The hubcaps on my 2009 Ford van just pop off now and then so it is necessary to buy replacements for them. These Mayde hubcaps fit the bill but are they any better? They look fine, no problem. My question is how well will they stay attached to the van? I think this is a review that needs some time to come up with the best info. A hubcap comes off about once every two or three years, but I only drive about 6000 miles a year. The question is; are these new Mayde hubcaps any better than the replacement ones I have been buying at Hubcaps.com. Hubcaps.com claim they have a much better attachment method (clips) than the original Ford hubcaps and so far none of come off, so now I need to determine how well these new ones will perform under stress. I took a photo of my original Ford hubcap, Hubcaps.com’s hubcap, and Mayde’s hubcap. I also took a photo of Mayde’s and Hubcaps.com’s clips for comparison. Short Story: I bought my first car in 1969 and was thrilled it did not have hub caps. Cars at that time all came with them but I personally never liked them. As the years past hubcaps became rarer until finally they seem to be a thing of the past. Here it is in 2023 and my Ford has hub caps, lol. I still hate hub caps but what can I do, so I purchased these as replacements. Item came well packaged and undamaged. I will keep this review up to date if any new issues arise (i.e. if the hubcaps come off). If this review is not updated, than means the hubcap(s) are still on just fine, I am very good at updating my reviews.     • Close to OEM appearance and retention methods
We have had our 1998 Econoline van for over seven years now and when we got it it only had one wheel cover remaining. I had to special order a set of covers from Napa and they literally fell off on the fist trip we made. Fast forward seven years and lo and behold a reasonable quality looking set of covers has emerged! The Mayde brand covers utilize steel retention clips and hoops instead of the strictly plastic finger method that has been common on budget wheel covers. Most low end covers can be extremely hard to install and remove, however these went on securely but easily, maybe better than the originals! The overall appearance is decent, there's something "off" about the proportions to the holes but the wheels look fantastic to anyone who isn't a full blown wheel cover snob like myself. The simulated lug nuts are chrome plated instead of simply painted a different shade of silver, another nice touch made by Mayde. I look forward to a long service life from these covers and won't be surprised if they outlast this old van. ... show more

    • It Really Does Cover Up Your Wheel Rim
The main selling point on these hubcaps, and the main reason I got them is because of their claim to cover up the wheel rim. It is true, they really do cover up the rim unlike ALL the other models out there. My problem wasn't scraped up rims, my problem is that two of my wheels are weight lopsided. To balance the tires, I have a large cluster of wheel weights on one side of the rim. With these hubcaps the unsightly wheel weights are finally covered up. These hubcaps also come with metal retaining wire and metal retaining clips, that is something the OEM never had. My one big complaint is that the triangular shapes appear to be cut out by hand with a razor blade. Every one of my hubcaps came with curled up plastic in the corners of the triangles where they had been trimmed. Due to the fact that they were trimmed by hand, the triangular shapes have jagged, irregular edges where the razor blade cut into the plastic. ... show more
