I thought that this product would be great, but it was just frustration. I tried lighting them directly...nope. I tried other items to get them to finally light...nope. I threw them away. The box that they came in was better for the smoker than these things.

I typically use dry pine needles in my bee smoker, but that does lead to a number of problems. Including flame-ups and a pretty big mess of burn residue and ash. These smoke pellets are a lot cleaner and easier to work with. Just light the edge and they start to smolder. This really is superior, no flames. They put out a consistent amount of smoke and last long enough to get typical hive maintenance jobs done, 15 to 20 minutes. The description talks about a pleasant smell, but to me it just smells like smoke. When you are done, there is no big mess to deal with. These pellets really are an efficient way to create the smoke you need when handling bees.
