  • 6 SUBLIME EXPERIENCE STARS!
I have to start by saying that Colleen Hoover is one of my favorite authors ever. Anything she writes I'll read because the way she writes and tells stories it's so unique, beautiful and always breathtaking. Maybe Someday was definitely not the exception and actually it set the bar ever higher for her now. This books was amazing beyond words can describe that I had to give it a brand new rating number in my book: 6 Stars.♥ This is a story about a pure-connection, a condemning attraction, and an impossible love. Sydney is content with her life: good boyfriend, best friend, college career, and passion for music. But her world is turned up side down when she finds out that she has been cheated on by her boyfriend and best friend. With nowhere to go she finds herself homeless but it's her captivating and talented neighbor, Ridge who offers her a hand. Even before their first meeting both Sydney and Ridge were more than aware of each other. From across their balconies Ridge would play his guitar to songs with no lyrics and Sydney would make up the words and sing the songs. So when destiny finally brings them together they already share a huge passion for music and an innocent attraction. That's how a strong friendship and undeniable connection develops between them... But there are hidden secrets and a defined yet tempting line they cannot cross which only brings confusion and turmoil to their relationship. A relationship that both fills and pains their hearts because even when they shouldn't "people don't get to choose who they fall in love with. They only get to choose who they stay in love with." I absolutely loved, loved this book! The uniqueness of it was something out of this world. First, the story was so well written that the characters captured my heart from the very beginning. I loved Sydney's altruistic personality; she put others before her even when it broke her heart and I really admired her for that. She was also so funny and talented so she was perfect for Ridge in every way. I could totally relate to her in the way she thought about things and the situations she found herself in. Some readers may find this story emotionally conflicting when it came to certain actions and/or situations but I never did. I had no problem being on Sydney's side and rooting for her from beginning to end. I knew she was my heroine and her good heart always did the right thing so I loved her no matter what. Now Ridge... Wow, Ridge took my breath away completely. He was so gifted and brilliant with his music and he had the biggest heart there was. He always wanted to protect those that he loved by putting their needs first and sacrificing his. My heart broke during his struggles because he didn't deserve to feel so conflicted and lost. Moreover, he had a story of his own that it was both heartbreaking and inspiring which made me love him even more for this bravery. Ridge was such a genuine and romantic character that even during his toughest times I always understood his heart. because there was no doubt his actions were always a reflection of his feelings and growing love for Sydney. The chemistry between Sydney and Ridge was really something else and that's where the second part of the uniqueness of this story comes into place for me: the music. Yes, there's amazing and mind blowing music in this book that connects the characters and tells the story. Listening to a beautiful song is one thing but listening to a beautiful song and understanding its meaning to the people involved in creating it was just a sublime experience for me. The way these two characters communicate and fall in love through music was so romantic, fascinating, and unforgettable. I don't know how many times I cried while reading and listening to Griffin Peterson singing the songs in this book. His voice was amazing and the lyrics perfectly evoked every single emotions these characters were felling so I felt it all in my heart and it was an incredible experience. I cannot recommend this book enough, it's an absolute MUST READ! You will love the characters, their soulful connection, and their beautiful journey to love and be loved. You will also laugh like crazy, cry very emotional tears, and succumb to the beautiful romance of music in this unforgettable story.♥ ... show more

  • Oh, isn't love a battlefield? (SPOILERS)
I have read this book twice. While it isn't my favorite Colleen Hoover book, it's still an entertaining read and I actually shed a little tear at one point! I absolutely love the songs provided with this eBook. The book is well written and the characters are well developed, as you probably guessed, since this IS a Colleen Hoover book. Sydney is such a lovable character, but she annoyed me a few times (It's the little things that drive me mad.) I liked Ridge, simply because he's a great guy—for the most part. Since he's an artist, he's very good with words. Though there is one thing that surprised me about Ridge—close to the beginning of the book, we find out Ridge is deaf! I don't know, I just thought that made this story even more interesting. A deaf musician? I think it's pretty awesome Colleen created a character like Ridge. Ridge is a very inspirational character, even with his flaws, because he's deaf but managed to develop such talent. There are also some things that bothered me about Ridge. He cheated on his long-time girlfriend, Maggy. It bothered me, because truly, I loved Maggy more than I loved Sydney. Maggy is just...she's...well, she's perfect. It was a kiss, but they knew what they were doing and they knew it was wrong. They knew they had feelings for each other, but kept doing what they were doing. Ridge didn't have to touch Sydney or kiss her to write music with her. Saying something, like, “I couldn't control myself,” is an overused, bullsh*t excuse. Ridge is the one that should have known better. Maggy is such an innocent little queen, and he just disrespects her like that. Sydney didn't have any kind of relationship with Maggy, so I didn't really get mad at her about the whole ordeal. She was weak with Ridge, but there aren't many single young women out there that wouldn't be weak with a guy like Ridge. I kind of felt bad for Sydney, because Ridge was so committed to Maggy, and was kind of leading Sydney on for a while... I thought it was dumb when Ridge said Maggy had half his heart, and Sydney had the other half. I mean, in the real world, who would stick around if the person they love said they love you, but love someone else the same? I'll tell you: NOT a person like Sydney. A damsel in distress is not Sydney. Sydney is a very smart girl, she's tough, and she does not tolerate cheaters. (In the beginning of the book, she catches her boyfriend cheating with her best friend. She punches them both in the face before immediately leaving. That's why she moves in with Ridge.) It just bothered me that Ridge didn't clarify, because it's pretty obvious that his love for Maggy is different from his love for Sydney. I like Ridge's character and his talent, but he's not the ideal boyfriend because of what he did to Maggy and Sydney. Trying to shuffle two girls around when one of them is your long-term girlfriend isn't okay. I know he wanted to pick, but if Maggy wouldn't have left on her own (If she didn't find out about Ridge and Sydney), I believe he'd still be trying to shuffle the two of them. He said he loved them both equally, so... But I don't know. That's the main problem I had with this book. Ridge didn't act maturely, so he ended up hurting two girls he cares about. He has a good heart, but he's not exactly...a rational thinker. He's human...but a MAN wouldn't beat around the bush with one girl, kissing and touching and showing he has feelings for her – while he's also doing those things plus some you-know-what with the girl he's in a committed relationship with. I did a note-to-self at the end of the book, because Ridge DID learn from his mistake, and as a result, he matured a bit by the end of the book. I'm glad Sydney and Ridge ended up together, because they do genuinely love each other, but I was left wondering about Maggy and I wanted to know if she was okay or if she found a new love herself. She deserved so much better than what was handed to her. If Maggy and Bridget switched places (the testy, and really rude roommate in the book) it'd be a lot easier for me to process the whole cheating thing. To put it short, treating such pure souls with disrespect could leave them bitter and paranoid someday. Delicate flowers are supposed to be handled DELICATELY, and if Maggy wasn't such a pure soul, the cheating thing would not bother me that much. I'm rating this book 4 stars, because I was so involved in it. I remember everything I read. It held my attention like nothing else, though I was annoyed with Ridge and sometimes Sydney at points throughout the book. I enjoyed the book, though I want Maggy to have a happy ending, too. PLEASE WRITE A BOOK FOR MAGGY, COLLEEN. SHE DESERVES ONE! Plus, there needs to be closure. I want Ridge and Sydney to be in her life as her friends eventually. I want Maggy to find her true someone, even if she's not going to have a long life. Please, Colleen. Give this amazing woman a happy ending! ... show more
