This is 13" tall, and 16" x 12" on the step. That's a good deal larger than similar steps. I sometimes photograph events and need to have a tall tripod...and realized I needed a very stable, light step that I could stand on for 1.5 hours at a time, and not have to worry about "is it wide and long enough." The two latches that lock the step in place, after it's opened, are super secure, and additionally held with strong magnets, so it can't be accidentally moved. This is a great little platform. I use it to load kayaks on my Outback's rooftop rack. My only nitpick is that I'd prefer that be they manufacturer offered a model that was 2-4" taller and maybe another inch both wider and deeper. When the ground is slanted or uneven, the extra height would come in quite handy. At 6' tall, it does take some strength to position the kayaks, especially on windy days. The extra height/width/depth would add just the right amount of stability and leverage to make life a bit easier. I am 5ft 9in and working on my truck is a challenge sometimes. This allows me to get in the engine bay easily. I have to tire shelves for either side and this covers the front access. just do not lean back beyond the engine midpoint or it may fly out from under you. Folds up nice and hangs on a wall when not in use. I am about 230 pounds and it held my weight without bending. Probably could support 300 because I stepped on it while carrying a iron cylinder head with an issue. ... show more
