I couldn't wait to use this brush since I've never used a deshedder before. I sat my dog down, did a tiny one inch stroke on his fur, gasped when I saw all the fur I thought it had "ripped" out, and literally dropped the tool. Okay, YouTube time! It was totally normal and didn't rip out his fur at all. Totally embarrassed but I'm sharing that tidbit for those, like me, who are using a deshedder for the first time and have no Idea of what they're doing or what to expect. It took a little over a week to get the undercoat out of my Newfoundland/Labrador mix with this tool. There was a very large surface area to cover and a VERY thick undercoat. Luckily his coat is more Lab than Newfoundland so I didn't have to use the cutting side because he doesn't get matted. I can't believe my groomer or vet have never told me about deshedding before. All these years I've been taking him in for a "Summer cut" twice a year where they shave his top coat and left his undercoat intact. Apparently, that's super bad for dogs. I spent over an hour a day for 10 days removing his undercoat, working in small sections for about 10 minutes each session. Sometimes my dog would get up and walk away before his 10 minutes were up. Each stroke, the brush would be completely full of fur and sometimes my dog would be more tolerant of the grooming than others. I wouldn't say he hated it but he would only tolerate me grooming him for so long. I didn't want to stress him since it was his first experience and he's going to have to get this done in the fall so I certainly want the experience to be as positive as possible. Now that we're done, I use this once a week to go over his coat quick for maintenance and have been using a zoom groom every day to pick up stuff that this tool has missed. The zoom groom is much more efficient now that almost all of his undercoat has been removed or at least loosened. My dog's coat is so black and shiny now that he doesn't have dull, dead hair all mixed in. I don't believe that it reduces shedding as much as they say it does but it did completely remove my dogs undercoat as it was meant to do and I'm sure my dog feels more comfortable now. That's all that matters.

Be gentle and my cat did not mind, it does take out extra hair that the regular brush did not do . It's a good product for sure, especially those who have thick haired cats.

This things works a little too well! My little fluffer is only a half-floof now; if you’re familiar with dethatching a lawn, this works in a similar fashion. Far less corgi glitter around the house, now!

This brush is magical! Gets the matted fur and ends out of my cats nicely! You don't need to press hard I gently go over the spot a couple times and it comes right out! I feel like it's very way to hold and I have small hands, the fur comes out to clean it very easily and it's not making a mess it catches the fur as you go and holds it. I use it on my short hair cat and my medium length fur cat and it works great on both! It's a quick and easy process even while going as slow as I do, just to insure I do not hurt them because it is heavy duty and I feel like it would hurt to just take through them like a pile of leaves in the fall lol

Absolutely the best hair brush I have ever used. My cat has very long hair and she sheds so bad, but this brush has helped with the shedding. And she loves being brushed with it. I tried a different one a few months ago, and she wouldn't let me brush her.. This one gets deeper into her hair and helps get the loose hairs without making her uncomfortable. It's also easy to hold.. which is great for arthritic hands. I would recommend this to anyone, especially if you have long haired cats. Not sure how it works on dogs, though !!
