Important Notes:· It is normal for the scissors to have a slight gap when closed. This is an intentional design to reduce friction.· It is also normal for there to be gaps between the teeth of the thinning shears.· If the gap is too large, try adjusting the tension screw to reduce the gap.· If your dog’s fur is severely matted, detangle it first before cutting. Otherwise, it could damage the scissors and result in uneven trimming.· It's recommended to give your dog a bath and dry their coat before trimming. Start with thinning scissors to thin out the coat, then use other scissors to finish the trim.· Pay close attention to the correct posture when using the scissors. Improper use can affect the trimming results (causing snagging and pulling) and may also damage the scissors.· After using the scissors, clean them with a dry cloth to prevent residue from dulling the blades. You get what you pay for with shears and scissors. They’re good for the price. They come with a convenient case, they’re easy to use, feel fairly sturdy and heavy, but not too heavy. Like they don’t feel super cheap. They cut hair pretty well too. I have a long hair chihuahua with really thick hair, so the thinning shears were important, but they weren’t that great, I just didn’t take a star off because it could have been me and my lack of experience too. I have used this set several times and found the scissors cut fine and the comb works great. My only complaint is due to the shape of the finger holes, it’s hard to pick the scissors up from a flat surface. I typically need to slide them to the edge of the table before I can get my fingers in the holes enough to pick them up. They are rounded in such a way that I can’t get quite enough of a grip to pick them up one handed. Easy to use, and great for grooming puppies hair. My puppy is now over 1 year old and he doesnt mind them at all, but just keep in mind that there are techniques that you need to develop while using the comb. When my dog was a puppy his hair texture was hard to work with. But I learned to cut the knots through not across and to use the comb the same way. Use the tips like if your tugging if it doesnt come out im sorry but thats a serious knot and it needs to be cut through. My doggys hair is curly with three different textures.
