  • Doesn't fit greenworks 80v mower (without modifications that are easy, but probably super dangerous)
I wanted improving leaf mulching capability on my greenwors 80v mower. Another reviewer here left a good review for their 60v mower, which turns out to be similar. I'll just add the following: -The greenworks mower has a green "disc" which spins, to which the mower blade mounts. See the pic in the other review. -This blade (20", as previously stated the 21" greenworks mowers actually use 20" blades... hmmm...) is TOO WIDE to fit the disc, because the disc has plastic tabs to hold the blade in position. Previous reviewer ground the tabs off. I think that's a mistake, since those tabs help transfer the torque to the blade. -instead, I took an angle grinder and cut slots into the BLADE, so it fits the disc (will try to attach pics later). This was actually quite easy, the blade is fairly soft metal. -the blade, being universal, comes with adapters to try and fit the various possible size center bolts. No adapter was an exact fit for the greenworks 80v disc. One was "close enough" (depending on your safety tolerance) -the installation thus has a significant "jury rigged" feel. When the mower powers on there is a slight, but definite, vibration with this blade in place (despite my best attempt at centering). However it works. -As noted, the incredible lift (plus hefty mass of this blade) sucks battery life. I think I lost 2/3 of my battery life with this blade in place. --BUT... wow. Using the greenworks blade, my dry maple and birch leaves were ground to dime+ size (mostly dime size, with a fair bit of half dollar size pieces, and maybe 5-10% unscathed leaves despite 2 lawnmower passes). Using this blade, the majority of the leaves were ground to DUST, with maybe a quarter at dime size and maybe 10% intact leaves (these mainly because of spill out from the tire edges, where the mower housing likely has a gap sufficient to allow escape). HUGE mulching difference. I think this was a valuable add, for about a month in the fall. No way would you keep this blade on your mower through the season. And I won't be surprised if it kills the mower (no doubt it is straining the engine). But I figure the time and effort saved in raking leaves (or hiring someone) is worth the risk. YMMV. ... show more

  • Great replacement for greenworks 21” battery mower
First of all I can’t speak for every mower but the greenworks 21” mover is NOT a 21” blade, it’s a 20” blade. Not sure how they get away with it but oh well. They don’t make real mulching blades for electric mowers. Why? Because it takes ALOT more power to drive them. I picked up a used greenworks 60v 21” mower, sharpened the blade and tested it out. It was ok, it cut the lawn but now great by any means. It daintily chopped the top off the grass and laid it down in a comfy bed of soft grass. Well that’s just not me, I want to pulverize the grass! I want to chop it into pieces so small you can’t even see them! Well that’s where mulching blades come in. Mulching blades cause lift. They lift the blades of grass up and drop them back down onto the blade which then chops it up into even smaller pieces which eventually find themselves back on the ground. The factory electric are nothing more than butter knives. Now this is not an exact fit. I had to hog out one of the spacers to fit on the plastic fan/adapter and grind the 2 locating tabs off the plastic fan. Again this is not without its drawbacks, I cut my battery time in half! If you’ve ever noticed the mower speeding up and slowing down, that’s it compensating for higher grass and higher resistance. Since it takes considerably more power to drive a mulching blade the mower is on “full throttle” the whole time. For me this trade off is completely worth it since it makes the mower useable and I have 2 batteries. ... show more

  • Fits EGO 56v mower but overheats the battery.
UPDATE: After using it for a while the EGO mower just can't seem to handle the extra weight of the blade and ramps up the RPM much higher than needed. After 10-15 minutes the 56v 5.0Ah battery overheats and shuts down. It could be that due to the better mulching capability it needs to keep it spinning faster to grind up the grass. Really disappointed because this mulches much better than the stock blade the mower came with. I wonder if the larger 7.5Ah battery could handle it better. I'm going to keep the blade because whenever this mower dies I am probably going to switch to a high horsepower gas mower. Someone said this blade won't fit the EGO mower, but I was able to make it work. One of the washers is a tight fit on the output shaft but as you tighten the bolt it will snug in to place. You will still need to use the indexed factory washer with the bolt since the output shaft sticks out a little bit past the blade. This blade is a lot heavier than the factory EGO blade and it about a 1/4" shorter so you're not losing a ton of cutting width. The EGO blade measures about 20 1/4". The mower takes longer to spin up to speed but it works. The blade has basically no sharp edge to it. I had to spend some time sharpening it before I installed it. Little surprised that the blade is flat ad doesn't have a bump up to lift the grass. Too much rain to cut the grass right now, but once I do I will update with how well it mulches the grass vs the factory EGO multi-purpose blade. ... show more

  • TOP QUALITY with UPlift
TOP quality replacement blade with Universal Fit and excellent Uplift. For some reason, I had to order a 20" replacement for a 21" mower to fit correctly but I will never notice this difference but I really notice a higher powerful exhaust shoot from the side of the mower with this blade. LOVE IT! I wish I replaced the O.E. blade as soon as the mower was purchased with this one commercial grade. 5 stars of 5 stars 100%. Easy Installation tip: UPLIFT side of the blade ALWAYS goes towards the engine on the mower. Downward side of the blade always goes toward the ground soil. ... show more
