I needed a new pair of True Wireless earbuds, and saw Maxell’s Dual Drivers being advertised on Instagram. You couldn’t beat the price so I gave them a shot, and they are amazing!! The sound quality is unmatched. The two speakers in each bud definitely help deliver great bass and highs. It also does a great job cancelling the noise around me so I only hear my music.     • Not My Christmas Earbuds!
I was hospitalized for two months after extensive back surgery. I missed Thanksgiving and my birthday, and it looked like I was going to miss Christmas as well. My husband bought me some Maxell Deep Bass earbuds. I put them in, and I couldn’t believe how awesome the sound was! About two weeks before I was released, a nurse at the facility accidentally damaged them. Once I got home I started the Great Search. I thought that if I got earbuds that were Maxell Deep Bass earbuds with the same model number that they’d be the same. Au contraire! We must have gotten four Maxells that had the same model, and: 1) The earbuds are only good for three hours. Mine are good for six. 2) Another pair only lasted four hours. Still not enough, and 3) Deep Bass? Try No Bass! Not one of the earbuds that I tried had a bass response anywhere near the originals. I despaired. I then ordered a pair of JBL earbuds, and they also at first seemed to have no bass. I then found the above Maxell High Fidelity Dual Driver Deep Bass earbuds. They fit very well, and really looked forward to using them that evening when I went to bed. At bedtime I put them on and to my disappointment their Deep Bass sounded like Shallow Bass. Fancy earbuds, same un-fancy sound. They do cancel the noise well, but the life of the battery while you are wearing it (not the battery life of the holder) is not there. I’m beginning to think that the first Maxell Deep Bass earbuds I was gifted by my husband were an anomaly. Not one of the other Maxells, including the above, hold a candle to the first pair he gave me, either in Bass response or in battery life. The pair of JBLs were kept because I read a review that said that the bass response was thin, but after he used them for a week it improved - and he is correct! After about a week the bass response has improved considerably. I’m going to try wearing the Maxells above for a week to see if they, too will improve with time.     • Lots of bad points, but spectacular sound for the price
Hmmmm, I'm not sure what to make of these earbuds. I'll start with the bad and then go on to the baffling good. First, Maxell have spared all expense in their packaging and presentation. These are entry level budget earbuds and they look like it. The box looks like it was designed by a high school marketing student, all odd colours and weird fonts. I wouldn't be surprised to see comic sans. Inside the box is no different, with everything packed in cheap, scratchy packaging. The small, lightweight charging case comes with a weird hashtag - #GetBlownAway - printed on it, and it looks like something I did myself while drunk. It's... weird. (Read the paragraph after this for it to make sense) Moving to the earbuds, I was at first confused as they sit in the charging case in reversed position, so I tried to put the right bud in my left ear. When I worked out my mistake it didn't get all that much better, as these things have a weird rigid plastic tab jutting out from the body that feels like it doesn't belong as I put them in my ears. I suspect it's intended to keep them in my ear as the tab presses gently against the antitragus (google it) and probably has some stabilising effect. I can't feel it after a few seconds, but it feels odd when inserting the earbuds. *Update: the buds *aren't* in reverse position. They're just intended to be worn with the thick stem pointing downwards, as I discovered after looking at a marketing photo. Turns out they can be worn either way, but yeah. This is a very unusual design. The plastic tab now presses against my tragus rather than antitragus, but it seems to perform the same stabilising function. Now onto the good. These earbuds have the best sound quality I've ever experienced at this price point, hands down. They're $60 as standard but as I write this they cost $42.92, and let me tell you as someone who tests a dozen earbuds a month that it's impossible to find better sound quality at this price elsewhere. There's enough bass to keep you happy, the mids and highs are crisp and clear, and the overall sound is rich and satisfying. Imagine what tinny earphones sounds like, and you'll find that these earbuds offer the polar opposite. I don't want to overstate it. If these things cost $100+ the sound quality would be quite ordinary, and the bad points stated above would be enough for me to knock them down to two or three stars. In the $50 range, though, they're astounding. If you're on a budget and want to experience the sound quality rich people get to enjoy, I recommend these weird, flawed earbuds. ... show more

    • Works great at first but not for long
So when I bought these in Feb they were they best earbuds that I've purchased in terms of sound quality. But the quality of performance has shrunk significantly since then. I expected the battery life to shrink over time. Thats typical. But these buds are constantly cutting in and out, not connecting properly to my phone, connecting only one bud at a time, connecting when the buds are in their recharge box, or simply not charging equally, or one bud will shut off while the other stays connected for no reason. My recommendation: don't buy these. Spend a little more money and get something more reliable. ... show more
