Right out of the box as soon as I plugged it into the wall it had the correct date and time so that was impressive, it seems pretty straightforward with how to use it with bright clear lettering. Brightness automatically adjust to 20% for nighttime but can be personalized as well. I did have to read the instruction booklet which is in English and done well, to figure out how to create a personal short message "alarm/reminder". (There is no button to scroll through an alphabet to create a title but you can create one with a USB drive on your computer and then attach it to the phone and the alarm will show up with the words you want it to say). I added the sample picture from the booklet to my review pictures. My mom is 85 and starting to have some mild memory loss and I spent a little bit more to buy these because I love that it says morning afternoon evening BUT also has the different icons for morning evening and night time that show a sun, a sunset, a sun rising and the Moon. If her memory worsens she may not know whether it's 4:00 in the afternoon or 4:00 in the morning and this will help!! I bought one for her bedroom and one for her living room, she is perfectly able to live on her own at this time and we are trying to make sure she can remain independent as long as possible , but safely, and I think these will help. I love that there will be a daily alarm for her to remember to take her medicines and to even drink water and hydrate herself and also to do her light exercises. I am one of five children and the only one who lives anywhere near her the rest live a thousand miles away so I am the sole caretaker but I have lots of other duties like helping with our grandchildren and work. I'm really excited to get these set up in her apartment tomorrow and I can update my review when I see how they work for her, the intended user. With the remote control it will be easy for her to simply press a button and turn off the alarm or reminders, nothing confusing, and so I don't foresee any problems, in fact I'm thinking about buying one for myself to remind me to drink water and do my own exercises!! on top of any other appointments I may have. The alarms can be set for each day, once a week the weekend or 7 days a week. This will definitely help her as she forgets to look at the calendar some days! I personally think this is a must have for all seniors living alone past the age of about 75 or so . Buy it! :) ... show more

I bought this clock in hopes of getting my elderly father to administer his own meds - most of which are only required once per day. He is also going deaf, so bright visible message that reads "take your meds" is ideal. However, there is an "alarm duration" setting that ranges from a couple of seconds to 5 minutes, which I believe applies to all of the custom alarms and preset "reminders". This seems logical, but if the alarm will only display for a total of 5 minutes, he could easily overlook it. My hope was that the "take your meds" display would display until he presses one of the buttons to shut off the alarm. (It should also be noted that the buttons are located on the back of the device, and if the device is wall-mounted, those buttons are not as easily accessed - there is a remote control, but that it will need battery replacement or recharging, it's a small gadget that can get lost, etc., whereas a simple button on the TOP of the device would be better, in my opinion, for shutting off an alarm). So I am not certain whether to return the device and try to find one with my preferences, or just press forward with this one. I do like the size of it. I like the clarity of the display. In many respects it is a nice device. ... show more

This clock is perfect. Can see it across the room. The remote allows me to turn off at night to creat total darkness and just hit the remote when I want to see the time. When I received my clock (very quickly) I inadvertently put in May instead of June thus it showed the wrong day. I emailed customer service and they got back to me in less than 24 hours.
