Just about anything will auger through nice, garden soil, but this auger will easily go through hardpan clay. I use it to loosen up the clay when I am digging holes for posts. If you have a 3-point auger that fits on back of your tractor, then you may not need this. But if you are digging post holes by hand this is a great tool. ... show more
