First off, the shipping was fast. Max Brakes is a Canadian parts company. They use a vendor to ship out their products in the US. The quality is top notch for these cross drilled slotted rotors and pads. The rotors are coated with a matte black finish (I’d assume for not rusting while in stock and for shipment. That’s genius.) These aren’t expensive. Other companies claim they’re better for more money, but why? The break in time is quick and simple. 6 hard stops from 40 mph to 5 mph with your foot in the brake pedal not taking it off. It releases the black finish and it shows the true metal of the rotor. It smells bad. That’s normal. After driving the family car around for two weeks now, a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, the car literally feels like it’s brand new. It’s got over 111k miles on it. The brakes were a must to upgrade. Especially driving around in the winter in Colorado. I never skimp on car parts. But I shop around to find good deals. I’m really happy I didn’t spend 100-200 dollars more on front brake rotor set. I changed the brakes myself in my garage with all of the necessary tools. WD-40, 14mm socket, 17mm socket, 2 ton jack, 2 two ton stands, breaker bar, impact drill (takes off those pesky screws that hold the rotor in place that break all the time. Left side screws came off fine, the right side broke. I used a lug to hold the new rotor in place while installing the new pads), and torque wrench (for locking lugs). It’s about an 45 minutes~ish for each side. All in all, great price. Easy install. Better than OEM. The new brake setup doesn’t squeak or make horrendous sounds! Woohoo! I’ll update later to show pictures. Update: These brakes are fantastic! Pads don’t squeak. The whole set is very quiet. The rotors cool down for fast from being cross drilled and slotted. 2nd update: The rotor/pad combo is still working great like the first day they were installed. Since the pads are a performance set, they do tend to squeak while inching forward. It’s not the end of the world. I’ve had sets like this on my cars in the past. Just fyi, even big brake OEM sets squeak. For a first timer, it may be annoying, but you should get used to it. If you want more performance than OEM, the pad squeal is something you have to get used to.

Seriously considered doing a Honda Pilot or Acura MDX front brake caliper and rotor swap into our 2005 Honda Odyssey which had scary long braking distances even with new generic brakes done by the mechanics of the previous owners. The Pilot/MDX swap would be an upgrade because of their much larger sized rotors and calipers however but required 17" wheels but unfortunately the Odyssey can only store a 16" temporary spare tires. We tired these Max brakes and installed green EBC pads on the rear brakes. We properly seated the pads with the recommended repeat stops. I have waited about a year to make this review. Absolutely impressive stopping power! No squeaks. No need for further upgrades or worries about braking distances. Great price and terrific vendor : ) Update: Well, I waited a year before making my review. Now it's two years more. Still completely impressed with these rotors and pads! I saw the other reviews were poor. I am starting to wonder how many problems are simply from rotors and pads not being throughly bedded properly? It's a fairly aggressive process. A series of hard stops from x speed down to y speed, and then a second series of stops from y speed to z speed. I'm thinking only a small percentage of owners do this. I doubt even mechanic do this. The 60-0 braking distances on the Odyssey are excellent according to factory specs and according to magazines. However, in real life use many Odyssey owners have long braking distances (myself included originally). Anyways, I'm three years in with these rotors and pads and still very impressed!

I ordered these brakes and rotors yesterday and they got here today. They were super fast they were coated with a black high temp paint and slotted and drilled rotors. This will help keep rust at Bay as well as disperse heat faster and remove brake dust that may trap between the pad and rotor. I only put one on as it is night time where I am and don't want to bang off the other rotor on the other side to replace it with the new one. But with the way it fits on the car without a problem and the pads no issues I give this product five stars even without using it because if there is an issue it would lie in the caliper from this point. I highly recommend buying this product especially for a 2010 Subaru outback 2.4 l V4.

I caught it on camera if I did not see my package on camera someone would have taken it just because it was so close to sidewalk. Then product was missing 2 of 3 main screws that hold on the jelly to the plastic vessel. But I had few screws same size and work on cars so I'm pretty well off when it comes to fixing things. Product probably is good but I won't leave a review for that. Just bad service and bad craftsmanship I hope they don't mess up this often. Anyway it's simple to just leave on a porch and place 3 screws where they should be. Hope they learn for next time .ppl ugh

Please read the fine print before purchasing from this place. We made an attempt to return the brakes and rotors. After we installed them and went out on the road, the rotors were making a clunking sound, so we decided to return them. I went to the UPS site to return them, like I would do with any purchase made through Amazon. Then I read all the conditions that come with returning these brakes. They do not pay for return shipments. They will not accept a return after 14 days. The brakes must be in brand new condition ( how are you supposed to know if the brakes are crappy unless you try them) ready to sell with all the parts and paperwork to go with it. If you've ever bought rotors before you know how incredibly heavy they are. Places that ship charged by the weight. So in other words you're screwed out of your money if you're not happy with the product. It says on Amazon that it's supposed to fit our vehicle, it either doesn't fit or it doesn't fit properly, which is probably why it's so cheap. Buyer beware. I thought we were doing business with Amazon not some shady brakes dealer. Maybe a check into the Better Business bureau is warranted. We went to the Nissan dealership and bought genuine parts and we haven't had any issues at all. You get what you pay for.
