  • Mavalzy Everything in one place indoor fireplace
Material Type: Concrete
I got this Mavalzy Rubbing Alcohol Indoor Fireplace after seeing several different models on YOUTube. The Mavalzy fireplace pretty much works as described. This is a responsible adult supervision product in my opinion. Obviously you do not attempt to refill the Mavalzy fireplace while the fire is burning. The glass globe does get very hot during operation although the base remains pretty much cool to the touch. the Mavalzy is built well out of quality materials and does include a non skid base which is a must for using the Mavalzy on a glass coffee table, or as we do on our dining room table. Average burn time for the Mavalzy fireplace was about thirty five minutes with a full charge. This isn't a light and leave the area type of device --> you must remain present when using it. The flames do tend to go a little higher than the glass chimney as it burns. The flame was easily extinguished with use of the included fire dampener. The only alcohol smell was barely detectable for a few seconds after it finished burning to be honest with you. It didn't smell or smoke while in use. And: To answer the question that everyone has been waiting for...drum roll ...Yes Our Grandchildren were able to use the Mavalzy Fireplace to toast marshmallows to absolute perfection! Overall I give this item a very High Four Star rating as it does get quite hot while in use, and the flames topped the glass globe a little bit which was a surprise to me. (I know it's a fireplace. Right?) Overall burn time can be shortened by underfilling the initial alcohol fuel charge which did not have any effect on the stoves performance. The Mavalzy Fireplace is a fun item, built to last. The packaging and instructions are very clear. It's generally a bit too tall for a bookshelf so hang on to the Mavalzy packaging for storage should you desire to put it away from time to time, as the Mavalzy packaging does work quite nicely for this. I am a Amazon Vine Reviewer. I am not affiliated with the Mavalzy company, nor any of it's associates in any manner. I am not paid for, or encouraged to leave anything other than my own honest review and opinions of the products that I personally use and test based on an overall five star rating scale. ... show more

  • A No-Smoke Fire Inside Home or Out
Material Type: Concrete
I love having a fire inside my house! My living room is decorated in a rustic, country-ish style. When it gets dark, I turn the lights off and this little fire pit lights up and gives a sense of backwoods, old time living. It's as if it changes the feeling of the atmosphere as soon as the lights go out. This fire pit is well made of good quality material. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the glass globe. It is a bit unstable and does not fit well down onto the base. You must never leave children alone with this fire pit, since the glass could easily be knocked off of the base. I tried this fire pit outside on my deck too at night. It is really neat to have a fire right in front of you on your patio table. I haven't tried roasting marshmallows yet, but the next time my grandchildren visit, that will be the first thing we do. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be a successful endeavor after taking off the glass globe. I used 91% isopropyl alcohol in this fire pit and it worked very well. The flame got really high and lasted for about 45 minutes. I was very surprised that it lasted that long. Overall, this fire pit is of good quality and works well. Just be careful with the glass globe. ... show more

  • Love the look of flame in glass tubing
Material Type: Concrete
This tabletop concrete tabletop fire pit with glass tube is the second mini pit I have obtained. While I really liked the first one the way the flame swirls in the glass tube of this one intrigued me enough to get it. It came nicely packaged but the tabletop protector/non skid pad is missing or perhaps I didn’t see it and threw it out with the box. It was nice that it did include instructions because my first one didn’t and although it’s not super complicated, I had to figure it out on my own. I was mostly concerned with the burn process and didn’t want to make a mistake. I’ve come to the conclusion that the 90% isopropyl alcohol burns too cleanly and sometimes it’s hard to see the flame. I also noticed the flame would occasionally sort of become out of control at the very top. The flame would expand into a larger area and make a sound and then return to normal. I don’t like this when it happens and it was happening often. So I decided to mix the 90% with the 71% which for all intents and purposes makes it around 80% isopropyl alcohol. I haven’t had a problem with the flame after doing this. Note: this happened with my other fire pit but there’s nothing saying it couldn’t happen with this one as well. That being said I haven’t figured out the wick situation completely either. The first type of wick I had was very thin , maybe an inch wide and several inches long and burned at what is probably a normal enough rate. I ran out and ordered more on Amazon. It was difficult to get a good idea of what I was buying so when I received the new wick material it was in large sheets and was very fluffy. I simply cut a piece and it worked fine. The wick with this new fire pit is not as thick as what I purchased and needs to be cut to size as well. The thing is I haven’t found any information about how the wick is supposed to be suspended in the alcohol. I typically just insert it into the alcohol with it leaning against the fuel chamber and hope it absorbs up through the material. I haven’t had any problems other than if the wick completely submerges the flame goes out. This makes no sense to me as I would think the alcohol would ignite but it doesn’t. With this new fire pit, which I have burned a few times now, the wick never seems to burn. I’ve used the same piece of wick for every fire and there is no indication on the wick itself that’s it’s ever been lit. It simply goes out when the fuel is consumed. I can’t figure this one out. The first couple fires seemed to burn nice and clean with the flame coming up about 3/4 of the way up the tube. Today however the fire left the tube blackened from the smoke in about the top third of the cylinder. I don’t know why this started happening. It’s easy enough to clean but takes away from the beauty of the flames. The only thing I don’t like about this fire pit is the glass tube doesn’t come down all the way over the base to rest on the table. It seats itself on the base about 2” from the bottom. It does look fine as it sits fairly level but I would just think the tube should fit better with the base. I haven’t used the enclosed place card holder to extinguish the fire but I suppose it would work ok especially if the flame extinguishes when submerged in alcohol as it has in the past. I can’t say enough how pretty the flame looks as it bends and curves in the glass tube. It really is much prettier than the open flame from my other unit. I definitely recommend this product but think the price point is a bit high for what it is. Maybe it’s a bit high because of the glass cylinder ... show more
