Love the cool feeling, but liking the itching it’s leaving in my scalp

  • Great for scalp relief if you pull your hair back often!
I wear my hair up pretty much all the time and sometimes my scalp gets tired or sensitive from the weight of my hair. I figured I'd give this a try and it really does work! I apply this like a serum after washing my hair and apply a small amount all over, massage it in. It is cooling, has a mild fragrance, feels really nice and does seem to help with scalp sensitivity. I haven't noticed any noticeable greasiness either which is a plus! ... show more

Wasn't sure what to expect with this as I hadn't used a product like it before. I've been wearing my hair pulled back daily, and really never letting it rest. Reasoning? A job and an infant. My hair needed to be pulled back for both. My scalp gets tender after the 3 consecutive day (only wash my hair twice a week). This stuff has been nice to have! I use the nozzle applicator and apply directly to the sensitive spots on my scalp, then massage gently in. It feels amazing and really soothes the scalp. The fragrance is light and pleasant. My hair doesn't get greasy from this, granted I'm not using much at a time. This product has been a godsend these past few months. ... show more

  • Good for pulling hair up if you have damaged hair
I often pull my hair up into a ponytail or bun so it is out of my face for work. It starts to pull on my hair and to be honest, isn’t really good for my hair to do it (it’s better if you don’t pull your hair up until it’s dry and if you don’t sit or lay back against things if your hair is pulled up) as this can make your hair break more easily. Combine the fact that I pull my hair up all the time with the fact that I dye it blonde, and it’s a bad recipe for breakage. I didn’t know that the term was high porosity, but that’s what I have had - the cuticles of my hair are weak and have little holes in them which cause the hair to be more brittle and more frizzy - when your hair is highly porous it allows moisture to leak out of it easily. To tell if your hair is highly porous (which is bad), take a strand that has fallen off and put it in a bowl or glass of water. Make sure that the hair isn’t sticking to the side of the container because that will skew your results. Then watch what happens to the hair. If it sinks right away, this means it has holes / is highly porous. If it sinks slowly or not at all, your hair isn’t porous and you don’t really need this product unless you are using it for the tension reliever portion. It has menthol in it which you can feel when on your scalp. I was hoping that when applied this wouldn’t be greasy — and as long as you only use a little bit, I haven’t had any greasiness or oily looking hair. It seems to help detangle my hair and also my hair is less frizzy. I don’t use this everyday - just when I’m pulling it up. I ordered the rest of the Matrix InstaCure line which I use frequently and my hair porosity has gotten better over a month’s time. ... show more

  • I Don't Know...UPDATED 1.10.23
Updated: 1.10.23-I decided to re-try this product as it's now winter and the condition of my hair has changed. I am totally stupified by the results. I have been using this each time I wash my hair since the beginning of December. The change is amazing. I use more than a few drops now: I use it across my scalp by drawing lines with the tip of the bottle, dispensing a small amount of product. Once I'm done with the lines, (about 6 or so, I'd say), I gently massage it in. Blow dry OR air dry, the hair at my scalp is soft and shiny and it is managable. I'm not sure why my results were so different this time, but I'm about to purchase more of this as it works wonderfully on my winter hair! Original review: Being that I have tried and liked Matrix hair products in the past, I thought I'd give this one a try. This review is for: MATRIX Matrix Total Results Instacure Tension Reliever, 6.76 fl. oz. I see this statement on the product page above, under Suggested Use: "Apply a few drops of serum directly to scalp in areas of concern, and distribute throughout scalp. Not recommended." Umm...so it's suggested or it's not? I'll admit, I'm a bit confused as to what this product is supposed to do. I've been using it with a few drops massaged into my scalp and then either blow or air drying. I will say the hair closest to my scalp looks shinier and smoother. My roots feel hydrated/moisturized. There are a lot of oils in here and something that causes a refreshing cooling sensation that I do love. I'm going to leave this review as it is here for now as I experiment with this product further. It is almost summer in New England and I wear my hair up a lot during the season. If I feel I need to update this review as time goes on, I will. As of right now, I find this product to be just okay. ... show more

  • Works fairly well.
Seems like it helps to not get as many headaches and it makes my hair smell nice. It does seem to help with releasing the braids when Im ready to wash, like they come undone easier. I've used about half the bottle now and so far I am liking it.
