This product works very well, and only a small amount is needed, especially if you have thin hair you'll want to avoid using too much. It definitely makes your hair easy to deal with and even helps to remove knots.

This came unsealed, which makes me a little nervous, however, my usual leave-in-conditioner also comes unsealed. I put this in my hair just as I would my other stuff and it seems to work fine. My hair is soft and tamed, and not getting greasy any faster than usual. The smell is a little stronger than I prefer (I prefer unscented and it is somewhat strong), but it did fade as my hair dried.

I see Bond and bonding in the title of so many products now. I'm guessing that a small percentage of them actually do Bond the hair shaft to repair it. This seems to do a nice job on my hair. It does feel like it tames the frizz and makes my end smoother. I could do without the scent. It's a bit overwhelming. I wish it were unscented. As far as value, it's probably not something I can maintain. Over $20 for just about 3 oz is a lot of money, especially as my hair goes well below my waist.

I've been using a line of bond building hair products (rhymes with "hola-trex") for years. They are very good. But, it least for the leave-in product, this product is better for me. Although I try a lot of hair care products, it takes a lot for me to permanently replace one of my regulars. FYI, I have shoulder length hair which I almost always allow to air dry if possible. My hair is wavy and "fine", but I have a lot of it. I like the ends to be "piece-y". I usually use a root amplifier (spray) around my scalp, a spray leave in conditioner all over and then a cream or "balm" at the ends to make them sharp and piece-y. Here's why this is my new regular leave in balm. First, I can use it with or without heat. I don't use heat on my hair daily, so this is important for me. Second, (and this is a BIG one), I use this on my damp hair after I wash it (which is typically in the evenings so it has time to dry), but ALSO I can use it on my Dry Hair and it helps the ends of my hair get some bounce back without making my hair crunchy or oily or weird I love it! It has a nice scent when it's applied. I that find most hair products smell off putting, but this one smells good. Definitely smells like a luxe salon product to me. I'm really looking forward to trying the other products in this line. Thank you Matrix!!

Generally when I use hair products, I don't really notice much difference on my hair. But with this one, I saw a difference immediately after drying my hair and it lasted a couple days. I have naturally wavy, very frizz-prone hair. I wash and dry it about 2 times a week and usually the day after washing it, it's super wavy and frizzy again. I applied this to my wet hair and dried my hair. I immediately could tell my hair was softer and straighter than usual. It felt like silk! Even though it still got a bit wavy after sleeping on it, the waves were less frizzy and I actually wore my hair down and in waves instead of straightening it or putting it up like I normally would. I also have an oily scalp and don't like using a lot of product because I don't like to wash my hair that much, but I haven't felt oily or like there's any build-up in my hair since I started using this. I will definitely continue using this and I can't say that about many hair products!

This Matrix hair balm arrived without a seal, and there were no instructions on how to use it or what it does. Initially, I thought it was a balm that I could use to hold my flyaways. However, I had to search online to finally discover the purpose and instructions for this balm. It turns out it's not for taming flyaways at all—it does much more. It's actually a detangler, heat protectant, and frizz control product. I was especially excited to learn it's a heat protectant, as I regularly use a hair dryer, curling iron, and other hot tools. The texture is more like a water-based gel, making it easy to apply to towel-dried hair. The smell is wonderful—a very light and fresh floral scent, reminiscent of peony. After applying it to my long hair, I used my hair dryer and curling iron as usual, and I really loved the way my hair turned out. It felt soft and had a healthy shine—not glossy, but a natural, healthy hair kind of shine. Although hot tools often leave my hair looking dry, this balm made my hair look healthy and vibrant.
