- CATCH THE WAVE: A knife is only as good as the precision of its cut. Our serrated knife is wavy-toothed, for a cleaner, crisper cut than your average knife. Its pointed, Santoku-inspired tip is perfect for piercing soft-skinned veggies with exactitude.
- Top-heavy knives cause hand-cramping. Our blade is a full tang: it extends into the handle, so weight is better distributed, and won't break under pressure.
- At finishing, each knife is hand-polished, then heat-treated at 300degree F before being cryogenically tempered at a well-beyond freezing -250degrees. This process alters the structure of the steel on a molecular level, making it harder, sharper, and more durable.
- We integrated the classic oval shape of Japanese handles into our design, but used an innovative, stain-resistant composite material in a matte finish to make ours firm and slightly grippy, for safe and confident chopping.

I needed a new set of knives and my research led me to try Material’s knife set! I saw them featured on nymag and cnet, so figured I’d give them a try. I am so happy that I did! The Material Kitchen Knife Trio is everything you need in a knife set. The knives themselves are extremely light and the neutral color lightens up my kitchen! I couldn't believe how seamlessly the pairing and chef knives cut through tough root vegetables. They make chopping a breeze! As an avid cook, I am always excited to whip these bad boys out and get chopping. The serrated knife slices through a loaf of sourdough bread no problem. I highly recommend these knives - so worth it if you love to cook, like me!
