Description

The Master Lock No. 527D Covered Solid Body Padlock features a 2in (51mm) wide black vinyl covered body for scratch and corrosion resistance. The 5/16inin (8mm) diameter shackle adjusts from 2-3/8in (6cm) to 5-15/16in (15cm) long; and is made of vinyl-clad hardened steel, offering extra resistance to cutting, sawing and surface marring. The 4-pin cylinder prevents picking and the dual locking levers provide resistance against prying and hammering. From the Manufacturer Keyed Different, 2" (51mm) wide covered brass body. Removable adjustable shackle provides maximum application flexibility. Shackle length ranges from 2-17/32" to 5-15/16". Adjustable shackle ensures snug fit to locked items. Covered shackle and body protect surfaces from scratching.

I’ve been looking for YEARS for a solution to locking my kayak to a public rack. I don’t drive so I really wanted a way to leave my kayak at the public launch for a whole season. I’d seen sit-on-top kayaks locked through their scupper holes, but there were no holes big enough on my sit-in yak. I figured I’d give this lock a try because of the length and the fact that the shackle could fully detach. Turns out, it fits PERFECTLY through the hole for the carry handles on my Pelican kayak. I’ve had it out there for about a week now in a very busy area of a public park and no one has messed with it yet! So far, the locking/unlocking has been extremely smooth. I will update if it gets rusty or otherwise harder to use. I know this review might not be that relevant to most users of this lock, but I hope it helps someone who was in my former predicament. These locks feel decently sturdy, and we got them just to secure some cabinets in a shared area. Easy to use with the keys provided, and it's nice that they are adjustable on the length when locking or unlocking. Decently priced, I'd say worth it if you're not looking for anything super heavy duty.

Didn't work for what I needed it for, but it's an alright lock. The positioning of the key when the shackle is all the way up is a little awkward. I imagine its nice and durable and the plastic helps it resist weathering. Good for larger lock holes.

These are perfect for securing closed handle cabinets. They do not work on my double door storage cabinet because the handles are open ended and go from wide to narrow. Takes little effort to slide them off. Not the fault of the lock. It's sturdy and slides easily. Great for a cubical office environment where you just need a little extra security. I would not put it on a public storage unit or anything that is vulnerable to mischief. The lock is spring loaded and you must have the key pressed to the unlock position to slide the lock either way (opened or closed).... which means the person who closes it must have the key. Not a concern if this is a personal lock but if it's a community cabinet (like coffee or office supplies) such that you want the 1st person in to open it and the last person out to close it, then keep in mind both must have a key. ... show more
