This MARS WELLNESS Rattail Comb Set should be a good entry for home stylists, and folks cutting their own hair. The price, at $2 per comb is very reasonable. I usually part my hair with my vented hair dryer brush, not always on the first try. Before I retired, when I had short hair, I cut my own hair below the temples and in front of the ears between haircuts, using a pocket comb to comb the sideburn forward, and cut on an angle with a beard and moustache scissors. Since I retired, I still do that, but I have long hair that grows very fast. I use small clamshell clips to hold the longer hair out of harms way. I’ve been trimming it for length and brushing it all forward and cutting straight across at my abdomen. That results in nice tapering on the outside edges when the hair is all on my back, a happy accident that I repeat every few months. I’ve been using the small moustache scissors to cut for length, despite they’re not being optimal. I got these rattail combs along with pro stylist cutting and thinning scissor pairs, and a pro set of electric clippers, one for cutting and one for trimming. I’ve watched some cut-your-own-hair YouTube videos, but not sure I’m up for doing it myself, partly because I face a stiff learning curve with doing the back with two mirrors. Was very hesitant about ordering.... I have 4c hair & some combs can be a little misleading. But, I'm really glad I did order. This Mars Wellness rattail comb set is made of a very strong plastic; This makes it more durable.

I'm a cosmetology student and it was recommended that we aquire more tail combs since our kit only provided one. I jumped on these because of the assortment—the 4 pack contains two each fine and wide tooth tail combs. I'm a little concerned about the seams catching on hair. I have the equipment/ability to smooth out and polish the seams like on my kit comb, but for $9 thats not too much extra work. I expect them to last a long time.
