I originally bought this jacket in 1996 absolutely loved it. Greatest rain jacket ever, used it in Costa Rica where it rains buckets and the rain never made it through it. Super comfortable and not bulky. I made the mistake of hanging it in direct sunlight in my room which damaged the inside. Had I not done that I have a feeling it would still be fine. This jacket has performed almost unbelievably well for the price. I initially bought it with low expectations because it was on sale and shipped quickly. However, soon after purchase I wet on a 5 mile run in the pouring rain and managed to stay dry! I've spent hundreds more on jackets that did not perform this well in inclement weather while running. This is now my go-to rain layer for workouts.

I got this for a bicycle tour trip in New Hampshire late September. I was more worried about rain. This is considered a rain jacket. But it was great for wind and cold. I wore a vest underneath, but it kept me very warm when riding high speed down the hills on a cool day. Definitely worth the extra cost. I will say that it is a little bit noisy, the crackle of the fabric, but given that I was on a bike, and it was already a little bit noisy with the wind, I didn’t notice it much when I was riding. I wear it to the dog park in other places now, and I’ve gotten used to it. It’s definitely one of the best windbreakers I’ve ever had. I don’t know about rain yet because I haven’t worn it in the rain. It didn’t rain a single day on my bike trip!

I almost didn't get this because the photo made it look like a tent. However, it is one of the few plus size truly waterproof light weight jackets. I have tried many different brands and this is actually flattering, breathes well, and packs into almost no space. It is light enough for summer wear, but I can fit a thin puffy coat under it too.

Definition: Water-resistant: able to resist the penetration of water to some degree but not entirely Water-repellent: not easily penetrated by water, especially as a result of being treated for such a purpose with a surface coating Waterproof: impervious to water This" Waterproof coat did not resemble ANY OF THESE DEFINITIONS. I wore this in the rain. I was soaked to the skin within 15 minutes. It was a steady light rain not a monsoon it never beaded up like it says it would. Very disappointed. Please define your product better. If I could return this product I would but since it didn't rain until just this past weekend I am now too far past the ability to return it which was August 1st you've really let me down Marmot I've been a huge fan of yours for many years I wear your ski gloves for the last 15 years pants all sorts of stuff but this jacket is a pitiful descriptor of marmot

I bought large for layered winter hikes it’s lightweight and seems are decent plus front pocket is large. Hood is adjustable but the lip for hats is not rigid. Older style of marmot but still good.
