Description

The Zeus jacket is serious hardware for city life in the winter. Amazingly lightweight down proof fabric is stuffed with the finest quality 700 fill power down. A wind flap is tucked behind the front zipper to suppress drafts. Packs away into its own pocket for easy storage or travel! This warm, snazzy- looking down jacket, from popular outdoor outfitter Marmot, brings the company's all-mountain warmth to wintry city streets. Available in a variety of style-conscious colors, the jacket is made of surprisingly lightweight, "down-proof" fabric that won't let precious warmth-boosting feathers escape. With a certified minimum 800 fill power of Marmot's renowned, top-quality down, the Zeus additionally features a wind flap tucked behind the front zipper to seal out the wind-driven cold, and the entire jacket packs down into its own stow pocket for easy packing (and a handy travel or camp pillow). Features Durable, lightweight fabric prevents down feathers from escaping 800 fill power goose down for maximum warmth; certified/guaranteed minimum fill Zippered hand pockets Entire jacket packs into pocket Wind flap behind front zipper protects against drafts Elastic draw cord hem for adjustability in serious weather Angel-Wing Movement allows full range of motion without jacket riding up Marmot Down Marmot often says that "down is in our DNA." The company was founded in 1974 as a manufacturer and seller of premium down jackets, vests, and sleeping bags, and continues to use fine quality goose down for its insulated outdoor products. Mountaineers and outdoor enthusiasts the world over rely on Marmot down gear for warmth, comfort, and sometimes survival. Down quality is determined by fill power and durability, which is dependent upon the age and maturity of the bird and the processing of the down. The best down comes from larger, more mature birds and goose down is generally better than duck down. More mature goose down has larger filament clusters than less mature goose down and these clusters, when grouped, provide many more trapped air pockets and therefore provide better insulation. To maximize the effectiveness of the down clusters, proper processing of the down -- sorting, washing, and drying -- is required to open them up. Higher fill power means higher loft, better insulation, lighter weight, and greater durability. Marmot tests all of its down for content, cleanliness, species, and fill power, guaranteeing minimum fill power for all down clothing and sleeping bags. Lifetime Warranty Marmot products include a limited lifetime manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. About Marmot In April 1971, University of California Santa Cruz students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were in Alaska on the Juneau ice fields for a Glaciology school project. This was where the idea of Marmot, originally a collegiate climbing club, began. Reynolds and Huntley soon began making prototypes of down products such as vests and sleeping bags in their dorm room in Santa Cruz. By the spring of 1973, Reynolds and Huntley partnered with fellow climber Tom Boyce to open a modest rental and retail location, named Marmot Mountain Works, in a 100-year-old building in Grand Junction, Colorado. Their first large order was for 108, as the producer called them, ""very puffy jackets"" for the movie The Eiger Sanction, with Clint Eastwood, which helped make down outerwear fashionable. In 1976, Marmot was one of the first companies to recognize the value of a new technology being developed by W.L. Gore & Associates. Marmot was soon producing waterproof Gore-Tex sleeping bags, with Reynolds and Huntley testing early prototypes by sleeping in meat lockers and under fire sprinklers, and later introduced the waterproof/breathable fabric into nearly all Marmot products. From humble beginnings, Marmot and its product line have grown over the years, and today the company is headquartered in Rohnert Park, California, with offices all over the world and distribution in more than 60 countries.

  • Marmot!!!
Size: XX-Large Color: Arctic Navy
I've known about Marmot when they were manufactured in Colorado in the late 80's. Their product and their quality is known throughout the west and in ski areas. This is a jacket, not a coat. It will protect you from wind and is not completely water proof, but it is resistant to water. When I wear it in really cold weather, say when the wind chill is below 20 F, I usually wear a sweat hoodie under it. Even on real cold days with wind, this jacket is enough for a reasonable amount of time, but at consistently below zero temps, I would be very careful. For really cold temperatures, Marmot makes a very nice, and very expensive, coat with three times the amount of down and it will protect you when the temp is way below zero. Everyone balks at paying $200 for a jacket, but I can guarantee that this jacket will be the last jacket you'll ever buy. And if you consider the number of jackets/coats that an average person buys over twenty years, you'll be paying a lot more than $200. The fit of this jacket is tight, which is what you want with a down jacket or coat. I am 220 pounds and I ordered a XL since I do wear a hooded sweat underneath it for my head. I would get a size bigger than your regular size if you plant to layer in cold weather. It is not a cool weather jacket, it will be very warm when the temperatures get above 50. Amazon will accept returns if a coat does not fit. ... show more

  • pocket zipper catches and doesn't work

I really liked the jacket and was planning on exchanging it when I got back from my trip, and found out the window closed for that 3 days ago. sad face.

  • Best jacket I've ever owned...
Size: Large Color: Jet Black
Marmot doesn't make this style anymore, Amazon was the only place I could find it. Is warm and breathes...lightweight.

  • Not sure it's a true 700 down fill.
Size: XX-Large Color: Slate Grey
Good for moderate cold. Claims a 700 fill. I'm not sure that would prove out. This fill is nowhere near as lofty as my old North Face 700 down. If this isn't warm enough next winter, I will buy another North Face or Patagonia for just a few bucks more.

Perfect sizing. Great color, lightweight but perfect protection in cold weather, large pockets, comfortable and easy for travel. 10/10

  • A prett good down jacket.
Size: Large Color: Slate Grey
But I’ve had lots of trouble with a zipper, which cost the review two stars.

  • Extremely warm. Lightweight. Packable.
Size: Medium Color: Jet Black
The day that it got here it had just snowed in Colorado. I walked my dog for over an hour and 17° weather and was perfectly warm with only one fleece layer underneath it. It’s absolutely amazing. It packs up well, and isn’t too bulky either.
