Description

The Amazon Sword Plant is a common and popular freshwater aquarium plant sold in pet stores today. They are beautiful, easy to care for, and beneficial to the rest of your fish tank. Amazon Swords can grow 20 inches tall or more, making them a great background plant for large aquariums or a centerpiece for small aquariums. These plants are in the Echinodorus family which are best fed at their roots. With a nutrient rich substrate or root tabs Amazon Swords will tolerate most lighting conditions, but moderate to high lighting is optimal. Amazon swords can reach up to 16-20 inches in height so once they get larger the plants provide excellent hiding spots for fish and other aquatic creatures alike.

Wow! That was worth the trouble. The trouble being that they shipped the first order USPS, arriving a week before the date promised and during a cold snap of -5 while I was at work. Of course, the plants didn't survive and I put in for a replacement order which they shipped out immediately, again USPS, but luckily I was off work and the temp never got below 44 degrees. These plants were healthy and vibrant with well established root systems that were at least 4" in length. Consequently I order the same deal from another company who also shipped USPS, that arrived a day after the first order from this company and they too froze before I could get to them. The box was about 5" in length, this one was 12" and one of these plants was bigger than 3 of theirs put together and twice as long. This turned out to be a terrific purchase and the company took immediate care of me sending replacements a week before I could even manage to return the originals. The other company has yet to ship my replacements. In any case, I was tremendously impressed with the size, the health and generous amount of foliage these plants offered. Definitely will make more purchases from this company. The awesome customer service was another unexpected.bonus! These plants were absolutely gorgeous! They arrived packaged separately and clean. They were alive and one even sprouted a flower a couple days after planting in my tank.     • Great price and plant. Be careful if you have Plecos, they will eat them.
Update: The plant is thriving. It survived my plecos. The biggest problem is that ever since I purchased the plant, I've had a Bladder snail infestation. I've reduced it quite a bit but snails are still present. Dropping rating one by one star due to the snails. Original review: I feel like the plants were a good deal and I'm glad that I purchased them, but I have about 10 plecos in two tanks and they have almost eaten all three of the plants. I knew plecos were likely to eat these plants, but thought I would give them a treat I guess. If you want the plants to survive with plecos, you probably want a different type. I know there are some they don't eat. In my experience the bigger broad leaf plants get eaten. ... show more
