This unit works for me but read what I've got to say on setting the numeric code

This is an honest, objective review. I'm giving it five stars because I think this is probably the best of the budget gun cabinets. The shipping weight is around 70 pounds and I (77 years old) was able to push, pull, and heft the package to the top of a flight of stairs. It was well packaged with a thick inside-the-box wrap of cardboard and steel, sheet metal protectors at each corner of the cabinet. There were no bumps or scratches. I chose this model because it had five heavy duty pins engaging the frame when the door is closed and locked. The inside locked cabinet is a plus. The hidden access port for the supplied access key(s) is also a plus. That's how you open it the first time. You'll need eight AA batteries. Four for the internal system and four for the supplied external power box which is used if the internal batteries die before being replaced. You'll also need 3 AAA for the interior light. Setting the fingerprint access was pretty easy. I did my thumb and forefinger and they always work right off the bat. Since you have up to 20 fingerprints I guess you could add multiple of the same finger(s) to compensate anytime the positioning is slightly off. I'll probably do that going forward. The key code was a different story. The number buttons are very sensitive and you have to learn to press them in such a way that they only beep once. They can easily beep twice and then the entry doesn't work. I also discovered that you need to press the hash key not only after you enter the number code sequence but also before you enter the code otherwise it doesn't seem to begin to recognize the number keys. You need to hear the beeps. Entries without beeps don't do anything and since that's not present in the instructions it took me a while to figure that out. In that respect the instructions are a bit presumptive concerning user initiative. Since I figured out the proper sequence I was able to create a code that works without an apparent hitch. I also decide to keep it to three digits to minimize the odds of the sensitive keys incorrectly misrecording my intended entry. Having gotten past that initial problem I think that this cabinet meets my needs quite well. My three Glocks fit quite well in the door pocket holsters and my shotgun has adequate clearance below the provided shelf. The interior lighting is a good addition. I can place my range bag on top of the unit and the provided holes and hardware will enable me to secure the unit to both the wall and the floor. Do I really want to spend $1000 on a unit weighing several hundred pounds. Not really. I already have a security system for the house and the master bedroom where the unit has gone already has a steel door and deadbolt. This works for me. ... show more

UPDATED REVIEW: I contacted the seller, and they promptly responded. They sent me the pieces that were missing (a backup battery box and 2 sets of keys; one for the smaller lock box at the roof of the cabinet, and one for the cabinet itself). The replacement items had arrived before the quoted timeframe, so I was especially pleased. As a note, this cabinet is EXTREMELY secure. Before getting the keys, it was impossible to get into. It is also very sturdy. Let this be a testament to anyone else that is concerned about their household and firearm safety: your guns are NOT getting taken out of this thing by anyone other than yourself. Excellent purchase. Will definitely be coming back to this seller for my next cabinet, and recommending them to anyone I know who is seeking out a secure and affordable safe for their firearms. OLD REVIEW: Arrived already locked, and did not come with any physical backup keys or a user manual. Also did not come with batteries. Unable to open, and the safe does NOT open with any fingerprint by default, which is what the sticker on the safe says. Extremely disappointed. Contacted the company to see if they will send me everything that was missing from the box, but still waiting for a reply. For the money not bad - assembly was ok you will need to add something to the bottom - felt feet - and the top is tricky to get on you have to slide from the front then pop down. Definitely not for guns with a long stock or wide. If you have 2-3 guns and the ammo boxes you are fine

Pros: Nice size for the price Interior layout good Extra pockets on inside of door Second lockbox inside Cons: Metal thickness of cabinet pretty thin Can’t speak to quality as it was returned Biggest issue was main control panel - it was not the same as pictured in their ad and did not operate properly according to the instructions. The gun safe door was broken when I opened the box. I sent pictures to the company showing the damage and they replaced the gun safe, no charge. I did not have to ship the old one back just dispose of the old one which I did. The company stands by their product. We like the gun safe it is nice, with three ways to open it. It hold 3 pistols and five rifles. It is secure, it has three 1" bolts on the side of the door and one each on the top/bottom of the door. Like most gun safes, it needs to be mounted to the floor and wall, for extra protection. If I ever need another one I would buy this gun safe again. Not many companies stand behind their product like this one did. I recommend this gun safe! ... show more

Door doesn’t close if you have pistols in top pockets because the handles of the pistols hit the shelf that you use to store ammo. Holes don’t line up when trying to assemble. I know it’s not a safe but you can use a screwdriver and lift the door of the hinges with one hand. Might be more in the value range of $75 to $100. In the instructions they tell you to use expansion wire to secure it to the wall , expansion wire is used for dental braces 😂. Looked it up on google. Home Depot never heard of it. I’ll keep it for overflow guns but I wouldn’t buy another. ... show more
