Description

Marantz has reimagined the integrated amplifier for the digital age while preserving a luxurious analog feel and sound. A full compelement of analog and digital inputs plus built-in streaming and HDMI make listening enjoyable and easy regardless of source. Stream from Spotify, Pandora, Tidal, and more or enjoy your own music file libraries. Works with Alexa, Google, and Siri. Create a multiroom musical experience with the MODEL 40n as your home’s music hub. HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) adds uncommon flexibility to this stereo amplifier by enabling TV sound through your stereo. The joy of vinyl playback is both audible and tactile yet requires highly specialized electronics for high performance. The Marantz Musical Phono EQ is built in so you can connect a turntable with MM cartridge directly to MODEL 40n. You’ll enjoy your favorite records and discover new ones, all without the burden of additional electronics. MODEL 40n follows a long line of historic Marantz pieces notable for their exquisite design. Every aspect is considered—from premium materials, symmetry, classic porthole display, and even smooth operation of the volume control. Your stereo doesn’t need to look like lab equipment. Marantz MODEL 40n begs to be heard, seen, and touched. To preserve the detail, nuance, and essence of the music you love, Marantz developed HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules) which are superior in their speed and response to off-the-shelf modules found in other products. MODEL 40n leverages this unique Marantz innovation to ensure whatever you’re listening to is always the most musical. Deep bass is a visceral and exciting sensation. When partnered with equally excellent speakers, MODEL 40n produces impressive bass. If you want more, add a subwoofer using the dedicated subwoofer output and dial in the low-frequency crossover settings and level for precise integration with your main loudspeakers.

    • GREAT SOUND
Color: Black
Had to replace 10 year old Harman Kardon amplifier. Because I'd had and loved a Marantz when I was in college in the 1970's, decided on the Marantz brand. After looking at the various models and reading reviews, I decided on the 40N. Very pleased with everything about it...from easy setup to features to sound! ... show more

    • Great power, relies on digital processing for quality
Color: Black
This is a great sounding amp, and I use it for both movies and music and everyone loves the sound. The power is possibly slightly underrated and is plenty for a class A amp. I like that I’m able to stream high res audio to it and I can tell that it’s high res audio. I will say that if the digital filter is turned off, the sound is just a bit muddy and no longer quite worthy of this amp’s price point. So it is relying fairly heavily on its DSP. I will also say that someone needs to spend quality time fixing bugs in the HEOS app. ... show more

    • Excellent hardware spoiled by unnecessarily complicated and unhelpful software
Color: Black
I will give the hardware itself a 5-star rating. However, the engineers at Marantz have superimposed a cumbersome and unnecessarily complicated software app called HEOS (that the user must install on their cell phone). The worst part is that you have to jump through a bunch of hoops to install HEOS to discover that the software only allows you to stream music from only a small set of "selected" music streaming sites, e.g., Tidal. Interestingly, HEOS excludes youtube.com and its premium version (music.youtube.com) which provide, by far, the most comprehensive selections of music and music videos available. So, for someone like myself who uses music.youtube.com, the streaming function provided by the Marantz unit and its HEOS software is unusable and useless. Had I known this in advance, I would have purchased the Marantz 30n instead without any "streaming" capability. Suffice it to say, that I used a cable to connect the Marantz 40n to my computer and am bypassing the highly limited streaming function. More knowledgeable computer techs out there might be able to figure if Marantz could have configured its streaming function in a straightforward way so sound could have been downloaded from any online site. ... show more
