Description

Engineered to Mirror Vintage Analog Gear: Fully Discrete Marantz Model 30 Integrated Amplifier Features High-End Phono Preamplifier, HDAM Circuitry, Luxurious Sound, More Meticulously tuned by the Marantz Sound Master and equipped with custom-curated HDAM-SA3 circuitry, the fully discrete and all- analog Model 30 integrated amplifier specializes in music playback marked by ravishing purity, memorable emotionalism, vibrant clarity, desirable warmth, and exquisite detail. Engineered to replicate the sense and feel of a vintage analog amplifier, and able to accommodate both analog and digital sources with profound depth, Model 30 uses separate power supplies for the amplifier and preamplifier sections as well as a large toroidal transformer dedicated to the preamp to keep interference to an absolute minimum. From its hundreds of carefully curated individual parts and porthole-style OLED display, to its symmetrical layout and brass-machined CD and phono inputs, the gorgeous Model 30 offers a master class in the importance, immersion, and experience of high- fidelity audio. Offering a conservatively rated 100Wpc output into eight ohms (and a massive 200Wpc into four ohms) and an ideal companion to the complementary Marantz SACD 30n steaming SACD/CD player, the 32.3-pound Model 30 boasts an amplifier design inherited from Marantz's flagship models. Equally impressive, the fully discrete current-feedback preamplifier section arrives prepared to excel with high-resolution sources. As well as vinyl. Indeed, the onboard MM/MC Premium Phono EQ – optimized with two-stage amplification that combines HDAMs with JFETs in the input stage and further simplified by the lack of any coupling capacitors – demands the attention of any discerning listener. An input impedance selector with three different settings further increases versatility. Ditto the linear electric volume control

  • Would buy again
I’ve owned the Model 30 for about 2 years and I can highly recommend it. I use the SACD 30 as well as a turn table as a source. Have B&W 702 S2 speakers hooked up and also tried KEF LS50 Meta speakers. They all sound amazing. I liked the Model 30 so much I bought the Model 50 (Class AB amplifier) and use that in my office with the KEF speakers. Both are amazing products. The Model 50 is a bit cheaper (less power), but for a smaller room does the same thing as the Model 30. Definitely compare the two before you buy. I like the look and the build quality is what you expect at this price point. ... show more

  • Great sound amplifier with somewhat weird controls
I am extremely impressed by the sound amplification and, by the way, prefer this unit greatly to the Marantz 40n. I did have considerable trouble with the third-party seller of this item: AVNation. The first time I ordered the Marantz 30, they sent me an email a few days later and informed me the unit had been crushed in transit; so they were refunding me via Amazon. So, I ordered the Marantz 30 a second time and when it finally arrived I discovered that the shipping box was actually crushed at one end. I examined the Marantz box which actually contained the amplifier and discovered a good deal of the Styrofoam designed to protect the unit was broken into pieces. So, my conclusion is that AVNation received the "crushed" box containing the Marantz and decided to ship it back to me anyway. I do have pictures of the two boxes containing the Marantz 30 that I received in the second shipment. ... show more

  • Marantz Are Sonically Heading In The Wrong Direction
I'll start off by saying that I only listen to vinyl, and hence this review can only speak to that aspect of the Marantz Model 30. It may well sound wonderful with CD or SACD. I didn't test it with either. For vinyl listening, the Model 30 is a big letdown. I really liked the PM8006 and decided to take a chance on this, but the tonality is off. It's got this weird sounding mid bass sound that becomes annoying. I don't mind a little mid bass added for warmth, but something about it just does not sound right. The top end is open and airy but maybe a touch too crisp. To my ears, the midrange is just not quite right. For nearly 3 Grand with tax, this is just not a good value, IMO. It's a bit on the "dry" side as well. Not dry, per se, but kind of leaning in that direction. I've got a vintage 2230 from circa 1972 that absolutely wipes the floor with this overpriced nonsense. I paid less than $400 for it a few years ago and it is fully restored and close to Mint. Marantz should be coming up with something at least as good for this kind of investment. If this was even as good as my old 2230 I'd be happy because the additional wattage would be nice, but it's just no comparison. And I mean NO comparison. I am not sure about Class D here either. That may be a part of what I'm hearing, because my experience with Class D has been limited, but there is something that is just not "flowing" with this amp. There is a "tightness" to the sound that I wouldn't quite describe as clinical but it doesn't have that analog ease that you'd like to hear Marantz getting at a price like this. For this kind of money you could really go to town on a vintage amplifier. In my view there is absolutely no way that this amp is worth a $2,500 list. ... show more

  • Beautiful! Sounds magnificent!
Lots of money but amazing sound from a beautifully designed piece of equipment. Needs equal quality accessories like turntable and quality cartridge to maximize listening experience.

  • Beautiful dynamic, clear, lush sound!
Been slowly climbing the musicphile/audiophile ladder til' I til' I bought this gem from an authorized retailer just a month ago. Last years went through a Cambridge AXA 35, IOTA SA3, Arcam SA10, Cambridge CXA81, Audio lab 6000A, Arcam SA20... Yes, the Marantz has no digital inputs, no internal DAC, no bluetooth...but the quality of the sound is simply stunning! Dynamics are impressive; vibrant with lots of contrast on quiet and loud passages (listen to mostly jazz and classical where dynamics, as opposed to the usual over compressed pop, are essential!). Tons of clarity, layering of sound; you can pinpoint musicians in an orchestra in a room, a church, a hall. Soundstage is wide, like a delicious 'hug'. Lots of power and control for even the most demanding speakers; a total joy to listen to this amp for hours; the phono stage (if you have vinyls) is also impressive, leagues clearer and with way more depth and detail as compared to the Audiolab or the Arcams. Besides, my CD player has simply never sounded better! It comes very very highly recommended! ... show more

  • Beautiful inside and out.
This is a wonderful system, to be complemented with quality peripherals. Amazing construction, beautiful design. Great sound. Just remember that every speaker has its own characteristics. Let it run a bit. in my opinion, this amp is worth every cent.
