The quality of the sanding and finish is very good to excellent, the seat bottom is comfortably contoured, the seat back is perfectly straight, which may or may not be comfortable for you ( I use a thin cushion on the back to take pressure off my spine. ) The six long allen wood screws that hold the sides on went in perfectly and hold well, if you value your wrists I'd get a 4 mm allen socket to use with a 3/8 ratchet to drive them in. http://www.amazon.com/TEKTON-1366-8-Inch-Socket-10-Piece/dp/B000K2O8OW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1405553199 The seat section I received was about 3/16 inch short ( loose inside the outer frame ) and the pilot holes in the side frame were too large in diameter, so when I tightened the short wood screws they stripped out. After plugging the holes with glued-in 1/4 inch dia. hardwood dowels and re-drilling 3/16 inch pilot holes, I added stainless steel fender washers ( large od, 1/4 inch center hole ) to take up the space. The seat section was also slightly bowed / twisted so I added 1 1/4 inch long # 10 stainless steel wood screws through the bottom of the four frame blocks that support the center section of the seat bottom. This stiffened the bench up considerably. The basic parts are fine, you just need to add some stainless steel wood screws and washers (all available at Home Depot) to make it a five star bench. Update: after a summers worth of sun and rain the finish still looks like new. All the joints are still tight and it's very sturdy. ... show more

We use this in our garden and it’s nice and sturdy..my husband also does family photography and this is great for a nice family photo..it gets used often..its light enough we can move it around in the yard easily but strong enough for a whole family to sit and stand behind to make a nice photo opp. We love this bench. ... show more

Very easy to assemble. Sturdy and is perfect for the niche in our garden area. The arm is wide enough to hold my coffee cup. And the bench is long enough for my husband and I to sit comfortably and enjoy our morning coffee and danish.

    • While it is a good buy for the money
While it is a good buy for the money, buyers should know that this bench is very red and not the natural color shown. It arrived chipped in several places but because it's here and we don't want to deal with the hassle of returning such a big box, we are going to keep it and try to work with it. It is light in construction so I don't recommend heavy guests sitting on it. Fortunately it works for us because it will be outside by the main entrance and we wanted it more for the look than for its utility. ... show more

My bench was marred in a couple of places from being treated roughly by the shipper, which included a large hole in the box, which I think caused the blemishes. Good looking bench. Sturdy. Good value. Admittedly we are not the most gifted in assembly so this bench took some effort to assemble. Still 5 star bench for our backyard.

    • No Instructions
Good value and about 35% less expensive than the identical model from HD ( lower shipping costs too). While I was able to assemble the bench in about 20 minutes, there where no instructions in the box, only eight wood screws and an allen head wrench (owning the right sized allen head bit and using a power drill would speed things up significantly). While it's pretty intuitive to assemble sometimes it's important to get the order right - fortunately I did without the instructions. The short wood screws to hold the seat portion to the side arms were about 1/4 inch too long which if tightened completely results in the tip of the screw protruding through the side pieces and damaging the wood. The bench itself is of good quality, sturdy and comfortable - hopefully it will weather to an attractive patina. ... show more

We assembled it with the tools in the package, very easy! Very sturdy and had 3 grown men sit on bench without it moving (600 lbs). Recommend this product if its available!
