I used this product for the first time. For reference I have shoulder length 3a-2b thick curly hair with highlights. I avoid sulfates and silicones. My preferred brand for shampoo, conditioner, and stylers is Innersense Organics. I tried this product because I have seen many curly hair stylists recommend Malibu’s hair treatments in social media. Overall I was impressed with this product and would purchase it again. I noticed softer and curlier hair. I did not notice a difference in the color, but I use purple shampoo and conditioner once a week to combat brassy coloring to my highlights. I was expecting a bigger difference in my hair texture and feel, but wonder if my hard water is not as hard as I thought. The only reason why I give this product a 4.5 out of 5 is due to the application of the product. I highly recommend applying the product in sections to your hair. The directions on the packaging is accurate, but I needed to apply a small handful of the crystal foam at a time. If I would have dumped all the crystals into my hand, added water, and rubbed my hands together I would have lost a large portion of the product. I poured small amounts into my hand and applied to my hair in sections and took my time to not rush the process. Pros: -softer hair -more texture to my curls -large amount of product, especially for the price -easy to apply -did not dry out my hair or strip it of natural oils Cons -take you time at applying and do so in sections, pouring the entire package of crystals in your hand is likely to result in loss of product ... show more

I have extremely hair water with high levels of tannin which destroys my blonde hair. This removes all the hard water buildup and orange color. Works better than any of my purple shampoos. I don’t mix the crystal packet contents in my hand. I use a bowl with about 3- 4 tablespoons of water and mix the crystals in. Then I section off my hair and work the product through. Once I have a lather I set a timer for 5min and let it sit, then shampoo and deep condition. 100% will buy this again ... show more

First time using a hair mask & I’m sold. So. Cal has very hard water & was told it coats the hair. I could only keep the mask on for @ 3 minutes due to a burning sensation on the skin next to my hairline. But it left my hair so shiny and silky. Shinier even than a clear glaze. Just fantastic.

I have high mineral content in my water (hard water). My hair is highlighted different shades of blonde. I love the slight contrast between platinum white blonde, beige blonde and a light brown. Yellow is a no-no! I'm also a fan of all purple products. Purple products fight brassiness. Hard water (minerals) causes blonde hair to darken. And purple products build up on top of that, making blonde hair a murky, dark, purple/brown. *SIDENOTE* Aveda is the best lightener (bleach/color)for me. My hair pulls a brassy reddish blonde with any other bleach/lightener. Aveda lightener lifts my hair to a beautiful beige/platinum blonde without heat, a toner, etc. I've been going to Aveda for 13 years. Never disappointed. When you get THAT blonde you're looking for, you want it to last. A few years ago it was time for my crown (roots) to be highlighted. For the very first time, my hair did not lighten. They didn't charge me. I noticed the murky, brown/purple color and thought the bleach highlights would certainly lift it. It didn't I was upset and looking for answers. After some digging and making phone calls to the water dept, I found out that my water has a high mineral content. On top of that, I use purple products every time I wash my hair. I had 2 problems but didn't know what they were or how to fix them. Researched and read reviews. Malibu is the best product on the market for hard water mineral build up and purple, color depositing products. I use Malibu shampoo every time I wash my hair and the packets twice a month as an extra build up remover. It doesn’t damage my hair. Leave it in for 10 mins, rinse before i get in the shower and shampoo & condition like i normally do. Malibu products for hard water keep my hair looking like it was just highlighted! I get compliments all the time! It wouldn't be possible without Malibu products. They are THE BEST! I get my hair highlighted (new growth) 3-4 times a year. That's it! I was unaware that aerosol sunscreen would turn blonde extensions a peachy color. I’ve only had this set for a few months and 3 rows of 20” extensions aren’t cheap.
