Description

Makita’s 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 4-speed 1/2" Sq. Drive Impact Wrench w/ friction ring anvil, Tool Only (XWT14Z) provides improved fastening control, ideal for automotive, installation, and fabrication trades. The impact wrench combines extended run time and speed control for unmatched fastening performance. It is powered by a Makita-built brushless motor for longer run time. The brushless motor delivers 240 ft.lbs. of Max Torque and 430 ft.lbs. of nut-busting torque. Precise fastening control is achieved through the 4-speed power selection switch, which accounts for a wide range of applications. Three forward and three reverse rotation auto-stop modes offer increased efficiency when fastener is adequately loosened. The full-speed mode function reduces the trigger pull to reach full speed. The XWT14Z features Makita's extreme protection technology (XPT™), a protective seal inside the tool. It is designed to improve a tool’s operation in harsh conditions by channeling water and dust from key internal components. It is part of Makita’s 18V LXT system. The LXT Cordless system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V lithium-ion slide-style batteries, takes a user from power tools to outdoor power equipment to get the job done. Makita 18V LXT Batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. Batteries are sold separately. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

  • high power density
Style: Tool Only
a lot of power for the size of device. Would absolutely get it again. It is small enough to surprisingly get into a lot of places, yet still packs a punch. I liked it much better than the milwaukee stubby. This one has some guts and isn't that much larger.

  • Best friend
Style: Tool Only
Great for those low to mid jobs, used it for my entire front end and it worked like a charm, just make sure to pair it with a breaker bar and extractor sockets if anything is rotted with rust.

  • Great impact wrench
Style: Tool Only
This is powerful enough for basic automotive tasks, and not too powerful either. The maximum fastening torque (240 ft lbs) is right in the sweet spot where manually torquing requires an expensive wrench and/or lots of strength (if space is limited), and also where accidental over-torquing usually won't damage the nut/bolt (unless it's under like 17mm-ish). Makita tools are well-built, have a solid 3 year warranty, and are repairable. I haven't used the intelligent features yet (which prevent over-wrenching when removing) but I am sure the need will arise at some point. I have used this tool frequently and only wish I got it much sooner, due to the significant un-ergonomic exertion and consequently, pain, it has saved me from. ... show more

  • Great compact impact...
Style: Tool Only
Search YouTube, this thing has quite a punch for it's size. Of which is why I love it. Small yet mighty. I have been using it for F-250 lugs with zero issues, and other smaller torqued items. If you need serious torque, (over 400 lb-ft) keep looking. But, if your just tooling around working on regular vehicles and such, this thing is awesome. ... show more

  • Works fine
Style: Tool Only
Not as strong on the loosening side as the you tube reviews would have you believe. Still need a breaker bar on many applications. Compact size and light weight is certainly a plus over the larger Makita models though.

  • Great product, more power than 95% of people need
Style: Tool Only
Top bottom line for the lazy: It's a good choice. I encourage you to give this a quick read and maybe my screwups will prevent someone from making them in the future. ------ All types power tools vary in strength. This is why many professionals have more than one of the same product, sometimes the same brand too. One puts out 225 ft·lb of torque, the other 785 ft·lb. But that's why you gotta LET YOUR GOALS DICTATE YOUR TOOLS. Don't get the most massive, behemoth of an impact wrench just cause it's on sale and if you're new at all this like me, remember that BIGGER IS NOT BETTER. If bought this impact wrench for some DlY home renovation projects, then you'd be working with a tool meant to be used for things like, taking apart a semi truck. It's easily 12 lbs or more and extremely top heavy, and impossible to maneuver without both hands on the tool. And then it'll send bolts flying like bullets as it tears through the regular bolts that you're using and not the bigger, stronger, and specialized bolts that the tool was made for. Unless you're shopping for automobile maintenance tools and, even then, unless you're doing major structural work, I would say get one of the lighter, smaller, and cheaper impact wrenches. You'll have more space to maneuver, less strain, better battery life, and most importantly, MORE CONTROL over the speed and torque, and therefore less chance of accidently stripping the bolt heads and wasting time trying to fix the mistake. This is a great product, but I think 95% of people would be better off with a smaller, cheaper impact wrench (square head) or even an impact driver (hex). ... show more

  • Awesome compact impact
Style: Tool Only
This is great for a smaller fairly light impact. Has a surprising amount torque for the size. It makes short work of car lug nuts. It has already saved the day on some rusty bolts that I couldn't get to budge even with a breaker bar, a few seconds of the Makita doing it's work and they came right off. ... show more

My first impact wrench and I can’t believe I waited this long. Removed suspension bolts in my wife’s 4runner with ease.
