Description

Makita is a leader in Brushless motor technology, and the Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless cordless barrel grip Jig saw (model XVJ01Z, tool only, battery and charger sold separately) seamlessly combines precision and power with the efficiency of Brushless. The XVJ01Z is engineered to deliver the power and performance of a corded Jig saw — without the hassles of a cord. It is ideal for professional woodworkers, cabinetry makers, specialized residential construction workers and any Pro-Contractor seeking a best-in- class cordless Jig saw. The XVJ01Z features an ergonomically designed barrel grip, which is closer to the work surface for more precise cut. The Brushless motor is engineered for efficiency, with a variable speed control dial (800-3, 500 SPM) that enables users to match the speed to the application. Added features include 3 Orbital settings plus straight cutting for faster and more accurate cuts in a variety of materials. In addition, the efficient BL Brushless motor is electronically controlled to optimize battery energy use for up to 50% longer run time per charge than similar non-brushless tools. Electronic controls efficiently use battery energy to match the changing demands of the application for increased power and speed when needed. And since there are No carbon brushes, the BL Brushless motor runs cooler and more efficiently for longer life. Convenience features include a tool-less blade Change system that allows for faster blade installation and removal, and a large 2-finger variable speed trigger with lock-on button. The heavy-gauge aluminum base is engineered for smooth, accurate cutting and added durability, and the dual L.E.D. Lights illuminate the work area. It weighs only 5.5 lbs. With battery (sold separately).

  • Best tool ever
Style: Tool Only
I purchased this tool when I needed to make clean curved cuts in dimensional 2x6 soft wood. It works so well and smooth, it's become my favorite tool! The on/off button can be slightly easier to use, but overall this is a great design and comfortable in the hands, very much more than the traditional jig saws. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Great tool
Style: Tool Only
I love this jigsaw, as others have mentioned the standby On/Off switch is a bit weird to use due to placement but the overall performance of this tool makes up for it!

  • This thing is great
Style: Tool Only
I read a bunch of reviews on this product. Most were good but there were some complaints. Mostly about the size of the barrel or the lack of a trigger. I got this a few weeks ago and have used it for a few different projects. I have to say, I love it. The barrel is a bit thick but it’s not too thick. You can control the tool very easily. The lack of a trigger is not a problem at all. I like that after it’s turned on, it starts off slow, then speeds up when you start cutting. The thing cuts like a dream and there is little or no vibration at all. I’m using either 4.0 or 5.0 amp batteries and there is absolutely no problem with power. ... show more

  • Smooth cutter
Style: Tool Only
I use this saw a lot doing trim and t&g ceiling work. Cuts super smooth. Unlock and go buttons took some getting used to, but it is the same configuration as my makita router. I at first questioned the lack of a trigger, but eventually came to like the auto speed. Really nice saw.

  • Great tool overall
Style: Tool Only
I deducted a star for two reasons. First, the plastic sight/blade guard routinely pops out of place. This is truly annoying and very poor engineering. Hard to accept that type of lack of attention to detail in an expensive and otherwise high quality advanced tool Second, the soft start feature is flakey for me. At times it fails to ramp up. I am not sure why. Other than that, the tool is powerful and cuts accurately. This design makes it is easy to control and make very precise cuts. For people who have bought and and then complain about the design. Makita makes a conventional jigsaw for you. It is baffling why someone would buy this design if they did not like it. same with the lack of trigger. It is part of the design. Nobody tricked anyone. Just buy the other model. I have a number of jigsaws and still use them now and then for certain jobs. When I need precise cuts or am working with heavier materials, this is the one. It just has more power and control. Don't buy it if you want a trigger or don't like barrel grip, you may not be happy unless you're open to experiencing the benefits of this is a saw. If you want power and precision, this is the way to go. Makita, fix the plastic blade guard. Seriously. ... show more

  • Smoooooth!
Style: Tool Only
This Makita replaced my last top-of-the-line Bosch corded jigsaw that finally bit the dust for the last time. It’s by no means cheap, but so far I’m happy with it. Smooth accurate cutting just like the Bosch, but quieter & no cord. Granted the soft start feature is different, but the user manual provides instructions to disable that feature if you can’t stand it. The push button on/off switch will take some getting used to. It’s not as straightforward as a trigger switch & until it becomes an automatic move, it will take a conscious effort to start & stop this saw. Other than that, I’m totally pleased with another great Makita tool to add to my 18 volt arsenal, and additionally, with just a slight modification to the retired Bosch jigsaw case, the new saw fits comfortably inside. ... show more

  • Jig saws, used to be my most hated tool to use
Style: Tool Only
Great tool, I've had zero problems with it. I like the weight, accuracy and speed it can cut. This thing has very little vibration. Which helps even more with cutting accurate cuts. You don't have to fight with the jigsaw at all, if anything I find i have to almost hold it back, bc it wants to just cut into the wood. Granted holding it back is done with minimal effort. ... show more

  • Powerful and not scary
Style: Tool Only
Smooth and powerful. Has basic safety features so you won't accidentally cut your hand off like you might when you plug in a Bauer corded jigsaw.
