Description

Makita is a pioneer in Brushless motor engineering, battery technology, and Miter saw innovation and has combined this expertise in the 18V X2 LXT® (36V) Lithium-Ion Brushless 10" dual bevel sliding compound Miter saw (tool only, batteries and charger sold separately). it's powered by two 18V Lithium-Ion batteries for 36V power and performance, but without leaving the 18V LXT® platform. Makita Brushless motors are engineered for up to 50% longer run time, increased power and speed, and longer tool life. The XSL06Z has an efficient BL™ Brushless motor that delivers up to 4, 400 RPM for fast and efficient cutting, with automatic speed Change™ technology to adjust cutting speed and torque under load for optimum performance. The XSL06Z has a unique 2-steel rail sliding system design that offers single slide-glide operation for smooth and Dead-On accurate cutting right out of the box, as well as a reduced overall footprint that allows the saw to be positioned flush against a wall. The innovative direct-drive gearbox and guard system is engineered for increased vertical cutting capacity (5-1/4”) and crown molding cutting capacity (6-5/8” nested), the largest in its class. It will also crosscut a 4x12 at 90 degrees. The saw miters 0° to 60° left and right, with positive stops at 0°, 15°, 22.5°, 31.6°, 45° and 60° (left or right). the bevel Lock is located in the front of the saw for easy access and Quick adjustments from 0° to 48° (left and right). the direct drive gearbox with soft start is a key point of difference. Direct drive enables smoother start-ups and consistent, Constant power with No belts to slip or replace. The Electric brake provides added convenience. Additional features include a high-quality 60T carbide- tipped blade, built-in laser that indicates the line-of-cut, and improved dust Collection capability for use with a bag (included) or vacuum (sold separately). it also has a large-sized aluminum base that improves the stability of cutting stock for more efficient cutting it’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star protection Computer controls™. Star protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT® and compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the Star symbol on the battery indicating Star protection inside.

Style: Miter Saw Kit
Ive been using the same dewalt 10" slider since 2012. It is literally worn out. I was excited to upgrade to this saw, assuming it would be at least as accurate as the dewalt. I really like how easy it is to swing the mitre and bevels around, upgrade from the dewalt. But theres something weird about its consistency in cuts, even after I zero'd everything adjustable out. You hold your board tight and plunge half way through and pull, then on the second half of the cut you can watch the blade wonder to the left of your first kerf. Then cut a 45 left, swing the saw to 45 right and hold your 45 cut to the other side of the blade and it looks like my cut is curved and/or out. Plus the fence wings dont slide out, only lift up. If you need to make a bevel cut, you have to remove them completely and youre left with only a 1 ½" tall fence to work with. Plus my fence is not square to the table, a speed square confirms this. I would have rather spent double and got a Kapex. Who knows if Id be saying the same compmaints tho. Sometimes i wonder if my expectations are too high? ... show more

  • Best miter saw!
Style: Miter Saw Kit
The media could not be loaded. Wow!! I am completely blown away by this saw. I got into woodworking about 5 years ago, and this is my 2nd (and last) miter saw. (My first was a decent 10”, non-sliding, single bevel DeWalt, but it was time to step up.) I am currently building my ideal workshop, and the miter saw choice was a central planning consideration for me. I needed a sliding saw with compact footprint in back - so it can go close against a wall. That immediately narrowed down my choices to the Bosch Axial Glide, Delta Cruzer, Festool Kapex, Metabo (I think), and this Makita. I initially purchased the Bosch, but I quickly realized for several reasons that it was not right for me (in summary, way too massive and too much deflection in cuts). I returned the Bosch and purchased this Makita 36V cordless saw. The saw came perfectly square. Its glide mechanism is butter-smooth, and there is virtually zero deflection. Insanely accurate. The extendable supports are very useful. The slow start feature is nice to keep the saw from “jumping” as many others do when starting up. Safety & switch are easy to engage. The laser alignment is nice to have but I always go off the blade itself. Really the only negatives are that the hold-down clamp is mediocre, and the saw is kind of heavy, so not super portable (but still movable). I plan to mitigate the clamp situation by building out a longer fence with t-track & clamping options. The saw will ultimately be stationary on my miter station. I debated for a while on whether to get the cordless vs corded version. Obviously I went with cordless, and I’m glad I did. Even though the saw will be stationary, it’s nice to not have to worry about yet another plug. (And if I ever want to forego dust collection and set it up in the driveway, no need for an extension cord.) The cordless does not compromise power at all. You’ll ultimately want an extra set of batteries (so at least 4 total), so that if one pair dies, you can swap for the other pair with no break in cutting. That said, you get plenty of cuts on a full charge. All I can say is - this saw is awesome. This is the saw you want. ... show more

  • So cool !
Style: Miter Saw Kit
Great saw. Cuts fantastic. True and accurate. I love the batteries. Matches my other Makita LXT tools. One down side is I had to make an adapter for my vacuum so it would fit the dust collector. They could have easily included an adapter but it is sold separately for some reason. I have mine mounted to the Makita stand and it looks great. If you are into the LXT system it is worth considering this saw. Update after having it for several months and using it for a varity of tasks I have to say that it works great. I did buy a Makita horizontal work clamp and it was very handy holding material I cut to make dados. I wish they would make the depth adjustment screw longer to allow adjustment over the full working height of the blade. I was able to easily modify it for the project. Unfortunately it seems Makita stopped making the crown molding jigs for this saw. In their defense the saw can make any compound cut so all need to do is brush up on my math and cut crown flat on the table the correct way instead of using a jig to hold it at an angle. Cuts 3/4 walnut like butter. Tip to anyone who is worried about not having AWS on this saw to control the vacuum. If you are using it in the shop hook up an Alexa enabled plug and an echo dot and you have voice controlled dust collection. “Alexa, turn on the vacuum” or for the non-adventurous types I guess you can just press the button on the shop vac, but what fun is that? ... show more

  • Great Miter Saw right out of the box! Love Makita!
Style: Miter Saw Only
I read some reviews here and was hesitant, but being a life long Makita lover I always take the chance and it paid off. After about an hour of really getting to learn the Miter settings, the angle lock out settings, the sliding arm lock out settings etc. I really started to get the flow of the saw. It does take a bit to get used to, but now its like night any day from the first time I used it. Made a bunch of cuts maybe ~40-50 and the batteries only went down 2/3s power. I probably need a more powerful vacuum to make use of the built in saw dust capture feature, but works OK. Laser is pretty cool as long as you adjust to be just outside where the blade will cut (how I like it). Nice fence with ability to screw in custom jigs etc. Cool built in clamp that you can switch to either side very easily and adjust to up to 6" of height. Really stoked this is a sliding saw that allows you to conquer larger pieces of wood or even some smaller plywood rips. Great saw so far will update in another 6-12 months. ... show more
