Description

The Makita 12V max CXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Recipro Saw delivers power and speed in an ultra-compact size for a range of cutting applications. The kit includes two 12V max CXT Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries for improved balance and ergonomics over pod-style batteries. For added convenience the batteries include an on-board L.E.D. charge level indicator. The RJ03R1 weighs only 2.9 lbs. (with 12V max CXT 2.0Ah battery) with a variable speed motor that delivers 0-3,300 strokes per minute and an efficient 1/2" stroke length for faster cuts. It's an ideal solution for users seeking a more compact cutting solution with less weight or for applications in tight spaces. For longer run time, all 12V max CXT cordless tools are also compatible with the 12V max CXT Lithium-Ion 4.0Ah battery (BL1041B). 12V max CXT lithium-Ion batteries are engineered with a Battery Protection Circuit that protects against overloading, over-discharging and over-heating. It's part of the expanding 12V max CXT series, combining performance with superior ergonomics in a compact size.

I would start out saying I really like this Recipro saw from Makita cxt line. I'm very happy that I got this saw and not listen to all the lies from negative reviews that I've seen on Amazon and YouTube. I took a chance and bought it, put it to the test and it did everything and even better than my Milwaukee 12-volt reciprocating saw. I must admit it takes getting a little used to by the way it's design and the angle that it's in. But once you get used to it you will then see all the power that this saw has. I gave it 5 stars because I couldn't give it 4 1/2 stars due to the design flaw. When you put a 4 amp hour battery to this Recipro saw it lasts for hours. Me personally I do recommend this saw to anyone who's looking for a good reciprocating saw that's 12 volt. Do not listen nor pay attention to the lies in the reviews and videos, those are all Milwaukee fan boys. so if you see from my pictures I have both Milwaukee and Makita 12volt line and I had Milwaukee first and just start buying Makita tools. ... show more

I love Makita products - I have a few Makita routers, saws, sanders and drills and have never had to replace any of them until now. I purchased my first Makita reciprocating saw in 1992 - 30 years ago and it finally wore out last week, so I replaced it with this saw. It might not have quite as much power as the old saw, it is much more versatile and will cut through about anything. It has two switches - one where a normal drill switch is located and a second switch that you can squeeze while holding the saw body. No more dragging a cord around, this saw has enough power in one battery to last throughout the day. Considering it comes with two batteries, a charger, the saw, a few blades AND A MAKITA CASE, this is a great deal. It isn't easy finding tools these days that come with hard cases. cut down a small birch tree that needed to go with a 12 inch pruning blade moments after receiving it. Maybe a 5 inch diameter wet tree. Yes you can bog it out if you try to. It has a high end rpm and an ok smooth transition gradient getting there with trigger pressure. This is coming from 12 volts? A noticeable step up in efficiency. two separate switches one for palming the barrel on small jobs. Timber framing or remodeling demo this is obviously not the tool. If you ride it hard it will slurp up your 2 ampere hour batt. But this is a cut off tool for me mostly, light, handy, really for what I need a Sawzall to be 80 percent of the time with a fraction of weight and twice the ease. I have a corded recip saw for cutting tree roots or going on a rampage. It's surprisingly quiet too. Not an annoying frequency for a smaller tool. I will update this review after I put some hours on it. I'm a finish carpenter. It goes in the van. ... show more

    • Disappointing performance even for small home projects

When I decided to raise the height of an entryway in my home, I discovered the wall had original lath and plaster under the drywall. I bought the Max CXT expecting it would make short work of the lath, but I was sorely mistaken. The saw struggled to cut through the wood and the battery was depleted after I'd cut the lath from one side of the opening. We're only talking an area of roughly 24x30 inches. The second battery was no better. It ran out just as I finished removing the lath from the other side, and it didn't even have enough juice to cut through the header. Fortunately, the first battery was recharged by then, and I used it to finish the job. For as poorly as the saw performed on the lath wood, it struggled even more to cut through the 100-year-old 2x4s that made up the entryway header. Which is odd, when you consider that the product page has a photo showing the saw in use on a 2x4! The tool felt extremely hot afterward, making me unsure about long-term performance. I really like Makita, but the Max CXT doesn't live up to the company's reputation. ... show more

As a contractor I've used Makita tools for years and consider them to be at the top of the ladder. I haven't had this Sawzall for long but it holds a charge, is steady, fast, and performs flawlessly just like my other Makita tools. Comes with two batteries that charge quickly and a heavy duty case that can take the rigors of commercial construction. So no doubt this unhappy review is influenced in some considerable degree by my ignorance of most things power tooly, but I expected this reciprocating saw to be a voracious all-arounder that go through almost anything. I envisioned running the sawing gamut from trimming hedges to felling tree limbs to slicing through metal pipes. And I am sure that in the hands of a more competent user that it would post more impressive results. But in the few weeks that I've had it I've come to think of it as a noisy way to cut down on my bank account. Sawzall? Not in my experience. It's a saws-almost-nothing. Aluminum gutters and their accessories? Nope. A fairly thin piece of plywood? Not without tremendous complaint and very errant cut-lines. A medium-sized tree branch? Forget it. It does come in an attractive green suitcase, and the Makita typeface is cool, but to me this thing was an enormous waste of money. To make matters worse, Amazon only gave me a month to try to return it and now it's too late. It's so frustrating I've contemplated slitting my own wrists with it, but that only compounds my depression because I have no confidence that it could do it. UPDATE: I contacted Amazon and they offered to accept the return even though it is past the deadline. Boo on Makita but YEAAAAAAY Amazon! ... show more
