  • Capable saw that has an unexpected trick up its sleeve.
Style: Kit
These little 12v Makita tools continue to impress me. I've been using this for light demo work and cutting through pressure-treated lumber, screws, and nails. It takes a little longer than an 18v to make a cut, and batteries require a recharge after about 20-30min, but it will absolutely get the job done. This thing going to be best for homeowners who need something capable for occasional jobs, or for pros who want to impress coworkers with a funky little tool that will allow them to get into awkward bizarre spaces. Pros: Small, light, insanely affordable, has two trigger switches - one of which is totally brilliant, sits around the body of the saw, and allows you to use this saw at really weird angles. Cons: The body trigger switch is absolutely brilliant, but the safety on the other trigger isn't very ergonomic at all. But, real talk, you're probably only going to use the cool trigger, not the little awkward one. Also worth noting, it's 12v, so the battery life is shorter, and cuts take a little longer. ... show more

  • Not an 18v power but still gets the job done!

  • New favorite tool
Style: Kit
Oh man do I love this saw. It is so lightweight & easy to handle, making it easier on my 64 yo sore arms & hands. I already had two other Makita 12v tools, which I also love to death. The balance on these tools is phenomenal making them a joy to use. I used the saw with a long 13” blade to undercut nails holding cedar siding shingles & it’s smaller form factor made it so much easier to finagle into position than my older Ryobi 18v recip saw. Sure it uses more batteries, but I have several so no biggie. ... show more

  • Great 12v saw
Style: Kit
This is a really good saw for mild use. Being an electrician I use it to cut conduit, sheer, sheet rock, and the occasional nail and stud. It holds up pretty well and the battery life is very good. Overall I'd say this is a great tool, just not for you if you'll be needing something heavy duty. It is a 12v saw after all. All in all, I'm sticking with this and throwing my M12 Hackzall in the bottom of my tool box. ... show more

  • Another great Makita tool
Style: Kit
I love Makita products - I have a few Makita routers, saws, sanders and drills and have never had to replace any of them until now. I purchased my first Makita reciprocating saw in 1992 - 30 years ago and it finally wore out last week, so I replaced it with this saw. It might not have quite as much power as the old saw, it is much more versatile and will cut through about anything. It has two switches - one where a normal drill switch is located and a second switch that you can squeeze while holding the saw body. No more dragging a cord around, this saw has enough power in one battery to last throughout the day. Considering it comes with two batteries, a charger, the saw, a few blades AND A MAKITA CASE, this is a great deal. It isn't easy finding tools these days that come with hard cases. This saw is nice and light and doesn't require two hands to operate. What a great value - Definitely recommend! ... show more

  • Slow and without enough power
Style: Kit
I bough this tool with hope then can I use that in my regular job. I used that tool in plumbing job. Its very delicate and don't enough strong for. Don't enough also for cutting walls. I use for that makita bigger makita battery 4Ah. And also I think this is not really good. Engine is to low and don't have power. 12v line tools with engine like that are just toys. Definitely 18 v line is better. Now I can't returned this product because I used 40 days ( in 30 days term to return) but I must buy new one 18 v line. For sure Milwaukee. Greetings.
