  • Amazingly Quiet Compact Compressor
I've owned 3 air compressors in my life. My last one was an oilless 4 HP, 20-Gal Craftsman (circa 1994), it was so loud, I didn't dare use it with the garage door open because it would definitely disturb the neighborhood. I couldn't start it up in my garage even with the door shut until my family was up and about in the morning. This weekend I decided enough is enough, I did my research a purchased the quietest air compressor in my price range. I will be 65 years old in a few months and it takes a lot to impress me. You know my type, been there, done that, owned that, got the tee shirt for that. I must tell you folks, I am super impressed by this little compact compressor, quiet, light weight and powerful. It's actually quieter than my garage fridge. I brought my Decibel Meter home from work and held it approximately 2 feet away from it while it was running on my tool bench, it measured 57.7db. I ran my 1/4" die grinder for approximately 45 seconds at full speed with no issues. Next, I tried my air chisel, then my 3/8" ratchet. Same result, no issues, I have yet to run in bigger tools lie a 1/2" drive impact wrench. I have owned Makita tools over the years, and I have always found them to be high quality and reliable, I am pleased to see the still maintain their high standards for quality. I am very happy with my purchase thus far and am excited to see what all it is capable of. ... show more

  • Good product with issue.
Does everything they advertise, but to make sure you use this compressor on a dedicated circuit. I had multiple instances of it freezing when some other power tool came on at the same time it was running. Sometimes I had quite a bit of difficulty getting it to run again. Almost returned it. On a dedicated circuit and seems to work fine. This is very important. ... show more

  • This thing is quiet
I love how quiet it runs and quick recovery. It handles trim gun verywell. It is a bit heavier than I would like but it is compact and a handle located to distribute the weight.

  • Well Designed and QUIET
This was a gift. The box arrived looking like it had been rolled down the stairs from Tennessee to Texas. I immediately tested it out and everything was fine thanks to good packaging from Makita. The box wasn't very presentable because it was shipped it in it's original box with no additional outside protection or packaging. This might be a case where an outside box would help protect the compressor as there were several penetrations and gouge tears into the box. ... show more

  • Change of stars, will work for light duty work like filling tires. Great customer service
Last Edit: Not only have the good people on Amazon responded to my question about whether this had limited use, the manufacturer's rep called and left a message on my cell phone that my use was perfectly fine. My only complaint is the manual! Usually that is because I think who ever wrote one didn't have English as their first language. Here the insturctions and all the many warnings were clearly and consisely set out. BUT they definitely need to take out that language that would make us manual users get the wrong impression. It is way bigger than I thought from looking at the videos. It didn't look that large on any of the mft. or YouTube vids, but it is pretty big and very heavy. I maybe should have gone down one more size and have not taken it out of the box yet as I need the accessories which are held up in shipping. So the review is on the manual AND the customer service. Having the mft. rep call you personally wins huge stars. It is the exception rather than the rule. Edit: 24 hours in I have two people answer that they use for other purposes such as filling tires. Left message for mft. but will give more time. I don't like to give 1 star reviews if not appropriate. At the same time, buying something for an intended purpose and then having a manual say limited use with all the Danger warnings is making me worry about using the blasted thing. Original: I have a BMW which at 16 years has been a good car except the flat tire monitor goes off every single time the tires loose a bit of pressure. I really missed having an air compressor. It seems that was always something I could use it for other than monthly checking my tire pressure and adjusting, which was primary use. The little compressors were overall poorly reviewed. I did a ton of research and finally picked this one. As I know air compressors can be dangerous and it has been a while, I carefully read the manual. Much to my surprise the manual says: " Never use compressor for applications other than to operate a properly rated nailer or stapler. Use of the compressor for other applications could result in damage/injury." Well I am aggravated!! Why wasn't that in the listing??? This is a heavy item to ship & I wouldn't have ordered it if is was "mentioned" it had only specific uses none of which I need! I have posted a question here and sent one to the manufacturer, but at this point I think it imperative that if this has limited approved uses, it should be in the dag gone listing!!!! So leaving a review on the "manual" because if it has limited uses, I shouldn't find out after buying it in the bloody manual.....Can you feel my irritation? Leaving out a fact in the listing description is as bad as misrepresenting a fact and actually twice as potentially dangerous. I will edit the review if I am misinterpreting the manual, but with an advance degree and a long life of reading complicated documents it seems pretty clear......which means I have just wasted time and money as it will have to go back. ... show more

  • So quiet! You will not be disappointed.
I've had a standard 6 gal. pancake compressor for ten years, and while it always got the job done no problem, it was SO FREAKING LOUD! This one has a much lower capacity, but it can keep up no problem with light-duty use, and it doesn't matter that it has to cycle on more often because it's so quiet that I barely even notice it. With the old style there was no way I could have a conversation anywhere in the vicinity while it was running, and I never wanted to use it late at night or early in the morning because it would disturb the neighbors (and my wife). With the Makita I can stand directly over it and have a conversation without even raising my voice at all. I can use it whenever and wherever I want without disturbing anybody. It's lightweight and easily portable, and all the delicate parts are very well protected by the steel cage. ... show more
