  • Amazingly Quiet Compact Compressor
I've owned 3 air compressors in my life. My last one was an oilless 4 HP, 20-Gal Craftsman (circa 1994), it was so loud, I didn't dare use it with the garage door open because it would definitely disturb the neighborhood. I couldn't start it up in my garage even with the door shut until my family was up and about in the morning. This weekend I decided enough is enough, I did my research a purchased the quietest air compressor in my price range. I will be 65 years old in a few months and it takes a lot to impress me. You know my type, been there, done that, owned that, got the tee shirt for that. I must tell you folks, I am super impressed by this little compact compressor, quiet, light weight and powerful. It's actually quieter than my garage fridge. I brought my Decibel Meter home from work and held it approximately 2 feet away from it while it was running on my tool bench, it measured 57.7db. I ran my 1/4" die grinder for approximately 45 seconds at full speed with no issues. Next, I tried my air chisel, then my 3/8" ratchet. Same result, no issues, I have yet to run in bigger tools lie a 1/2" drive impact wrench. I have owned Makita tools over the years, and I have always found them to be high quality and reliable, I am pleased to see the still maintain their high standards for quality. I am very happy with my purchase thus far and am excited to see what all it is capable of. ... show more

  • quality ,well built, reliable and super quiet. nothun more to say.
Finish pro in California. Great tool, super quiet. Clients love it. Heavy and seems built to last. Running 15,16,18 and 23 gauge all day with no issues. I can talk on the cell with the tool running at my feet with no problems.

  • Very quiet and works great
Very quiet and works great. The small tank will not allow full pressure use for very long so choose one with a larger tank if that's what you're using it for. For my purposes around the house like cleaning out vacuums and filters it's perfect.

  • Perfect fit for my uses.
Compact size. Ridiculously quiet. Will work all day blowing up high volume bicycle tires, and mounting tubeless tires. Makita quality.

  • Very quiet, sounds like a loud fridge
Awsome little compressor. I bought it so i could use my nail guns in my shop without listening to my Dewalt 15 gallon compressor. I have the Dewalt piped out to my garage from my basement. I dont even think twice about turning on this Mikita air compressor. It really is half the noise of the Dewalt. This compressor is kind of hEaVey but manageable. The center handle is in a good spot One thing to note, i tried to use a smart plug to turn this compressor on and off. It dosn’t work. I believe it is because it uses a capacitor to help get the motor running. Somewhere between turning off and turning on using the switch charges the capacitor. So if the compressor switch is left in the on position and the smart plug just cuts the power without actuating the compressors switch it doesn't charge the capacitor to give it the extra boost to get the compressor running. ... show more

  • Great compressor for small jobs
Quality: Nicely built compressor with easy-to-use controls and easy-to-read gauges. Sound level at 3 feet is 73 dB and 68 dB at 5 feet. A normal conversation typically registers at around 60-70 dB. I have been using this compressor, trouble-free, on a daily basis for a little over 6 months. Functionality: The unit performs as advertised, with a quick fill time and maximum pressure. The term portable is open to debate as this unit weighs 45 pounds and is hard to lug around. Sound levels are quite good, but in a closed garage, I was unable to get far enough away to measure 60 dB. Perhaps in a more open space, the sound levels would be lower. This unit provides adequate air for small applications (i.e., filling tires, blowing out debris, pneumatic staple gun, etc.). If you want a small and quiet compressor, then this is the real thing. But you will pay handsomely for that silence. ... show more

  • Very Quiet and Quick to Fill Tank
This compressor is built like a tank but is still very portable. The welds and finishing of the construction indicate very high quality. It goes from an empty tank to full and ready to go in about 30 seconds and is very quiet compared to my old pancake style compressor. Also surprising, it will keep up with demand when filling my trucks tires. You don't have to wait for it to fill the tank and then the tire. It will stay up with the demand. I am very satisfied with this Makita compressor. ... show more

  • It's pretty quiet.
I don't know what the specific range is for the spec Makita used for noise measurement. My ipad says 80db at <12", 70db at a meter or so, and 60db at about 5 meters (16'). Or in more useful terms, it's quieter than most people talking. I can't hear it over the radio in the shop. It's awesome. As far as performance: it's 1 hp motor and a 2 gallon tank. It's rated for 2 cfm at 90 PSI, 3 cfm at 40 psi. Plenty to drive a nail gun, intermittent air brush, etc. If you need that much air continuously, it's going to run continuously. Figure out how much CFM you need, divide that by the rating, that will give you some idea of the duty cycle. Yes, it'll probably run continuously if you're filling tires, but on the bright side, you'll still be able to listen to the radio. ... show more
