  • Best cordless hand tools ever!
I’ve been shopping for the best light cordless tools. From 3 brands that is trustworthy: Makita, DeWalt and Milwaukee. They’re pretty much the same as far as best quality cordless tools however Makita is more stand out due to weight and price. I like DeWalt but the price is a little bit more expensive in my opinion. Plus this one comes with super cool bright led. So far I’m happy with the purchase. My first cordless tools I hope it will last long. As far as the lifetime warranty I like the DeWalt and Milwaukee, I don’t know about Makita it said 3 years in the box. Thank you Amazon for the fast shipping. ... show more

  • A quality lower-priced system from Makita
Makita didn’t make the first cordless drill, but they did make the first cordless drill that I actually saw being used by a professional. A remodeler friend of mine had one of Makita’s little 7.2v drills and later one of their 9.6v models. Both performed far better than a lot of 12v drills being marketed at the time. My first cordless drill was Makita’s 12 volt 1201, purchased around 30 years ago, I think. I still have it, and I’d still be using if you could buy new batteries for it. I also have their little 3-1/2” cordless trim saw. Around 20 years ago I started using the DeWalt 18 volt tools. I still have them, but the batteries from DeWalt are hard to find, and the aftermarket ones are largely junk. Last year I picked up Makita’s new compact LXT 18 volt drill and driver, and those tools have largely taken over from the DeWalts. This set come from Makita’s CXT range, which are smaller, and more affordable than the LXT tools. Both are marketed as professional tools by Makita, but I suspect the CXT is aimed largely at homeowners and hobbyists, who don’t need tools built to withstand daily use. Which is not to say that these aren’t high quality tools, because they are. I gave the drill a good workout today building a sawbuck for preparing logs for my wood lathe, and both drill and driver have plenty of torque. They’re also even lighter and more compact than the compact LXT line, and don’t add much weight to a tool belt. As I get older I can appreciate that. The kit also includes a bag and a tiny work light powered by the same batteries. I could see using it in a tight space, like under a sink. This set is a bit different from most drill/driver sets in that the drivers is actually a true impact wrench, designed to drive sockets rather than hex shaft screwdrivers. You can still do that, with the right adapter, but I suspect that this set is aimed at amateur mechanics rather than woodworkers. It certainly would have been very handy when I was working on small motorcycles and scooters a decade ago. (I initially bought my DeWalt 18v impact driver for that purpose.) If you’re not a pro, and you’re looking to invest in a tool system that won’t break the bank but will still allow you to get a wide range of cordless tools, the CXT line is definitely worth consideration. ... show more
