  • Astonishing sound at an incredible value
Style: Sierra Plus with Wireless Subwoofer
The media could not be loaded. As someone who is value-conscious but appreciates high-end gadgets, I was excited to see an Atmos-compatible soundbar from Majority at a very reasonable price point. My previous soundbar was the Majority K2, which provided amazing bang-for-the-buck, but I wanted to move the smaller unit to my home office and get a more powerful system for TV and music. The Sierra Plus definitely exceeded my expectations, and is competitive against systems that cost 2-3 times as much. DESIGN/BUILD QUALITY: The soundbar and subwoofer are a sturdy soft-touch plastic construction, with no gaps, wobbling, or creaking. The design is clean matte black, accented with a glossy taper around the ports. Overall, a simple and elegant aesthetic. Because of the up-firing Atmos speakers, the grille spans the front and top of the soundbar. The central LCD, behind the grille, is bright when first booting up and when adjusting settings, but quickly dims when not interacting with the soundbar. One minor nitpick is that there is no way of turning off the LCD entirely. However, it does become quite dim, and is not at all distracting during viewing. FEATURES: The Sierra Plus checks every box for high-end features. A full range of digital and analog connections, including three HDMI ports (one HDMI ARC); four dynamic equalizer presets (music, movies, news, and 3D); and further customizability with independent bass and treble adjustments. The subwoofer connects wirelessly. Setup was unbelievably easy. Not only did the subwoofer connect automatically without issue, but the previous CEC settings on my TV automatically worked with the new soundbar just by plugging it into HDMI ARC. I normally budget a few hours for setup and troubleshooting with feature-rich electronics, but for the Sierra Plus, I just plugged in the soundbar and subwoofer, and everything worked immediately. AUDIO PERFORMANCE: Two words: blown away. With most audio equipment, I usually stick to one audio preset, but with the Sierra, I find myself switching regularly because they make different types of content sound so amazing. The news preset helps voice-heavy content come in beautifully crisp and clear; the music preset creates amazing instrumental detail and separation; and the movie preset strikes an impressive balance between clear dialogue and rich instrumentation. The real showstopper is the 3D equalizer, especially for Atmos-compatible content. Unlike with unconvincing virtual surround-sound, the audio bounces off the ceiling. I get goosebumps hearing the sound actually come from behind me without rear-positioned speakers. It’s also nice to have a powerful system (400W) that still allows pinpoint control over the low volume range for late-night viewing. Don’t get me wrong—this system can get loud and rumble bass—but it’s nice to have crystal clear audio at quieter volumes too. The wireless subwoofer syncs flawlessly, whether right next to my TV console or across the room. FINAL THOUGHTS: I give my highest recommendation to the Sierra Plus. This is an unbelievable value, and definitely worth treating yourself to amazing high-end audio at a fraction of the price that most Atmos systems cost. ... show more

  • Majority has impressed me again!
Style: Sierra Plus with Wireless Subwoofer
The media could not be loaded. The Majority Sierra Plus packs a lot of sound into a relatively small package. I initially wanted to test the Sierra Plus because I am a long time Majority audio fan, owning multiple other speaker models already and enjoying all of them. I was certainly excited to try out the flagship model and see what it could do. Starting with unboxing, I could tell it would be a quality product. I also liked how Majority decided to drop including physical manuals, since you can just get them online anyways. I hooked up the soundbar to the HDMI ARC connection on my TV and plugged both the soundbar and subwoofer into my surge protector strip. The soundbar immediately came to life and scrolled welcome across the front before saying ARC. Setup could not have been any easier, truly plug and play. I started by streaming Morbius in full 4K HDR encoded with Dolby audio. I saw Dolby Surround/Atmos scroll across the soundbar meaning it was utilizing the correct codecs for the best audio. I fast forwarded to an action scene in Morbius to test and I was immediately impressed. I set the soundbar to the 3D EQ setting after testing the other modes out. The sound filled our 350 SQ FT living room remarkably well, with sound seemingly bouncing off the walls to the center where our couch is. The subwoofer did a fantastic job of filling the room as well. You could easily feel the bass which helps the movie experience to be even more immersive. The ability of the soundbar and subwoofer to both simultaneously fill the room with sound was something I did not expect. I have a full independent 5.1 surround sound speaker system as well and I must say, the soundbar did admirably well against it. For me the immersion factor of an audio system is most important and the Sierra Plus does a great job of making you feel like you are in the action. Of course, the challenge for sound bars has always been to comparatively fill a room with sound like a 5.1+ system can. I believe the inclusion of the up-firing speakers on the soundbar and the ability to decode the higher quality audio codecs helped big time with this. Also, another strong suit of the soundbar is its ability to clearly render voices. This can be the biggest downfall for speakers in general when watching movies. However, Majority clearly included great hardware here because I had no trouble hearing everything, even in low volume talking scenes. For music I streamed various songs from movie soundtracks, and I did enjoy the way it sounded. I believe the soundbar's strong suit is movies however it also does a great job of filling a room with music. The subwoofer helps with this and hits low notes with ease. I have owned several sound bars with wireless subwoofers and the one included with the Sierra Plus is great. Pros: Room filling sound Great bass from subwoofer Multiple EQ settings Plug & play setup High quality audio codec support Cons: Soundbar is big and heavy ... show more

  • ARC HDMI issue
Style: Sierra Plus with Wireless Subwoofer
Everything else is very good, the sound, connections, bluetooth subwoofer connection. All good. The issue is the ARC HDMI connection to my LG 65UK7700PUD. I have to unplug to reset the soundbar (and subwoofer) and tv. Majority suggests for 10 minutes, and it works....BUT, when everything is shut off for the night, and restarted the next day, the connection is lost and the whole rest process has to be repeated. I have tried a few different hdmi cables that have not worked. I will buy and try one with the most updated version and meant for ARC with hopes that stops the need for constant t resets. UPDATE: This continued for a short time, but then one day it connected at tv start up and has continued to connect via ARC ever since. Not sure why it was giving me fits when new, but glad there are no issues since. ... show more
