- I’ve been using this machine for about two weeks now, and I can honestly say it’s totally worth the price (after discount). Before I got this machine, I had a Body Solid Leverage Gym. The Body Solid was awesome as a gym subscription alternative. It used high-quality steel (probably 11 gauge) and could handle a lot of weight (up to 600 lbs). The only reason I switched to the Drone 3 Smith was because I was getting older and I had a really bad bike accident almost three months before I bought the smith station. I badly injured my knees and elbows and couldn’t workout for about a month. I had to rethink how I worked out. My injuries really messed up my ability to do pushing exercises. That was one of the downsides of the Body Solid gym - you would need a lot more energy to do pressing movements because of the leverage arm position. That’s when I started looking for better alternatives that could fit in a small space but also be safe. - One of the best things about a Smith Machine is that you can set safety stops and also set a starting position for the bar that doesn’t require as much effort to rack the weight for pressing movements. Even though the steel on the Drone 3 isn’t as good as the Body Solid Leverage Gym, the Drone 3 turns out to be surprisingly more stable. The front uprights are 12 gauge steel, the rest are all 14 gauge. Despite this, the Drone 3 Smith is still very stable during operation. You can comfortably do pressing and pulling movements without the whole gym rack station moving, which was a small problem with the Body Solid gym because of the total weight of the gym in general. In addition, the diagonal feet at the bottom towards the back make the smith station, in general, really rigid. - The pulley system works really well. You have the choice of 1:1 or 2:1 pulley ratios, on both sides. This means you won’t have to buy double the weight if you find yourself outgrowing the 2:1 pulley ratio. The pulley system is very smooth. I bought extra aluminum pulleys for even smoother but also quieter operation. But this additional enhancement is probably not necessary. - The Smith machine is great. It moves very smoothly, and the steel pillars are solid and not hollow, which adds to the Smith bar’s stability. The strength curve is tougher on the Drone 3 than the Body Solid Leverage Gym, probably because of the direct vertical movement of the smith machine and the pulley system. The leverage gym moves on an axis. You’re constantly getting tension on the Drone 3, unlike the tension leveling off on the leverage gym. I’m about 6’ 4”, and I find that I can perform pull downs with a decent stretch by using a step platform to sit on and the j hook with the leg attachment (set to the 2nd to lowest position on the upright) to hold me down. - To conclude, I’m very happy with my purchase, especially since it’s more comfortable for me to work out with my injuries.

The video they provide to assemble is GREAT. Just had to pause and rewind a lot. The product for the price is good. Everything works great and happy with the purchase. During the install on the cables, the back rollers need to be removed to run the cable. The nuts and washer fell into the tube below and there were no extra washers or nuts provided.

The media could not be loaded. Assembly was super smooth. We had my husband setting it up and I helped with a few things that needed two people. It is super sturdy and easy to maneuver. I love that I can work out many different muscle groups with one machine and that it doesn’t take up too much space! It fits perfectly in our 3rd car garage gym space. Highly recommend!

The media could not be loaded. Due to the lack of convenient gyms in my area, I decided to go the garage gym route. For the price, this rack is great! While you can get better quality machines elsewhere at a higher prices, this rack is more than adequate for what I need. Getting the bench, smith machine, cable system, and numerous attachments in one package lets me hit basically any workout. I appreciate that the Drone 3 model includes the leg attachment (which connects to the safety bars) as I haven't seen that in any other similarly priced/categorized racks. It certainly makes seated cable pull downs easier when pulling more than body weight. The ability to switch from 2:1 to 1:1 on the cable system is also very convenient. The cables feel smooth. They are a bit noisy due to how the pulley system rides along the back posts rather than a dedicated, lubricated steel rod like typical systems, but I'm fine with it as it doesn't seem to affect the feel of the machine at all. I'm sure it helps make the rack more compact and budget friendly. One other thing to note is the smith machine isn't counter balanced and moves perfectly vertical. This is different from dedicated smith machines I've used in the past but I actually prefer it this way. I weighed the smith bar to be roughly 30 lbs by standing on a scale. Other reviews mention difficult assembly. It is definitely time consuming but each step generally makes sense. Some steps benefit from two people but it can probably be done solo if necessary. On that topic, my rack initially arrived with a piece missing (specifically, there are Left and Right support pieces that look very similar to each other, and I received two L pieces). I'm not detracting a star because the customer support was quick and helpful and I have no other problems with the rack, but it's something to consider.

We needed a compact footprint for our basement along with good functionality in a sturdy machine. This checked all of the boxes for us. It did take a bit to assemble, but the video provided in the Amazon listing is amazing and very helpful. The machine came to us in 3 boxes and was extremely well packaged. Upon being assembled, we found it to be very sturdy and more than adequate for our needs. We have been extremely satisfied so far and love all of the features and options we have given the low price point! We only purchased the machine, as we had a bench and plates already. One thing to note is that it wasn’t mentioned in the assembly instructions but be sure to place the footboard for the row function as well as the landline attachment early on in assembly, as we missed that and had to try to prop the entire thing up to get underneath the bottom rails to install those after it was all assembled. So far, no regrets at all. Incredibly happy with our purchase!!
