  • Just ok
It's very cute! It looks good! Beyond that, not so much. I needed something simply to retire my old rooster in his own area. If I needed it regularly for actively laying hens, I would have rated it lower. The wood is thin and flimsy and will not hold up beyond a year or so. The roost bar is a half inch dow... useless for any bird bigger than a parrot. It's functional, but not made to last. ... show more

  • Cute, works as it should but kinda cheaply made.
Assembled ok and everything lined up fine. Had all the screws and pieces. Wasn't thinking about the metal try getting cold on their feet in winter. Ramp fell apart at the top so we had to screw it together instead of the staples that held it in one piece. Over all not a bad coop for my 3 small hens. We put an extra perch rod in it as it only came with one. The nesting divider had to be taken out would not stay in place. ... show more

  • Good for starting out
First one I received was broken during shipping and the company sent out a new one. It was easy to put together but a lot of pieces are out of square. The slide out flooring is kinda weak. Some of the pieces were not built very well. (Screws used split boards) That being said with some minor modifications this can be a good starting coop. I would suggest that if you buy this you plan on reinforcing the flooring and having caulk on hand to seal the screws that attach the roof. ... show more

  • Not at all easy to clean. Terrible design overall with no thought to actual function
Good points first: Cute with hearts for locking the doors Spacious enough for a couple of hens Now the bad: The instructions were not great if one doesn't already know what they are doing. For example, it doesn't mention that you should leave room for the tray to slide in and out on the opposite wall from the nesting boxes. Oh, and there isn't really space for removing said tray when you consider that there isn't much headspace above the frame, so it'll likely be a crazy wiggle fest to get the bedding and chicken waste to fall to the ground while trying to remove the tray since it won't fit through the slot. And then there's the bar that goes over the roof... They put the holes such that the screws can't reach the roof to secure it. It makes no sense. The lid is definitely not hinged, and definitely not easily removable. This is going to be a terrible pain in the ass to clean. I'm not exactly excited about trying to figure out how to get the bedding in there now, actually. The entire floor of the coop is the removable tray, which wouldn't be a problem except that it's only a thin sheet of aluminum... And what happens when the aluminum is exposed to chicken piss over time? You guessed it! The floor is going to corrode and get holes in it. I definitely would not use this anywhere where you may have that season known as winter. Due to lack of access, how the heck will you get to your eggs if the chickens are being little bitches and lay inside the coop instead of the nesting boxes? Or if you have to get to one of your girls in an emergency? That will literally take a screwdriver to do... Not safe. The overall sturdiness is pretty bad, the whole thing easily goes out of square. Which one can presume will make inserting the floor a pain if you knock it a bit while cleaning. Honestly, this is total garbage. ... show more

  • Needs some Adjustments
Coop is just what we needed for a lone Polish who had to be removed from the flock. It would house 4 bantams at night if you don't mind them in the nesting boxes--I don't and if they have a large run or free range in the day. I wouldn't coop even a single bird in this all day though. The roosting bar--pathetic, not worth bothering with, too low. The chicken ramp--brackets were on the wrong side or in the wrong direction. I had to remove them and put them on other side in order for the "steps" to be up. You have to switch the brackets cause it won't attack the way the instructions say to attack them to the coop cause if you do attach them the way instructed, the door won't close. Instructions...could be better. Put some little letter stickers on the pieces. We had to do the nesting box twice. It was hard to figure out what was what. Needs another vent. Just has one screened window. Needs another on the back. Coop is serving our purpose though. Laying boxes are easy to access. The roof is working--we did have to screw new holes though and then put caulk over them. It's cute and she sure seems to like it. ... show more

  • Good for what you're paying for
Most importantly: This will not be predator proof. No way. This is the Ikea coop of coops. But if you have a secure enclosure or are in town with few predators, that won't be a problem. My husband is a carpenter (yes he could have built me one but I didn't want to wait). His opinion is that, for what we paid and the time to put it together (20 minutes) it's probably a good buy. You will need to purchase two latches and a lock to go with because the little wood hearts just won't do the job (you can see we just used them for decorations in my photo but they're meant to go over the doors to hold them closed). It needs painted to preserve the wood as it's barely stained. But it was easy to put together and now it's ready for spring breeding. This would also be a good cat house for winter if you insulated it. Or rabbit enclosure. It would be good for 2, 3 chickens max if you let them sleep in nesting boxes. Overall, it will work for what we want and we will probably purchase another. ... show more

  • Great for starting out
The media could not be loaded. We just got our chickens yesterday but we went ahead and bought this and set it up so we’re prepared for them to go outside. This took maybe 40 minutes to put together it was too hard to do. The bottom metal tray pulls out which is really convenient for cleaning. It comes with a perch. The nesting box comes with a removable piece to separate it into two. The bottom of the nesting box is also removable which is good for cleaning. It’s not the highest quality but it definitely serves its purpose for the price. I will be buying another one to fit all of our chickens. ... show more
