I lost my UFO lame and was looking to buy a new one. These came up. I liked the look that you didn't have to unscrew anything, just push the blade out, but I was also a bit skeptical. Sponsored product. No Reviews. I figured whatever, I can always return them. However, I actually really enjoy them. I've been getting better scores than I did with my UFO or traditional stick style lames (I also started freezing for 20min before scoring, so there may be confounding issues.) but it works nicely. You twist the little push button the load the blade, which was a little strange but once you get it in, it works quite well. It's light, and in that sense feels a little "cheap," but I love the results, and if I happened to lose both of these, I'd buy them again without hesitation.

I have the lame with the long handle to score my sourdough bread but I find this shorter lame is easier to handle. It's just a personal preference.

I needed a new lame that is retractable and easily seen. I ordered the red Volnamel because there were two in the pack and are easily seen on a table. They worked well, so I ordered another 6 for the students in my bread class. After a month of use, blade changes are easy, the retraction mechanism functions well, and they stand out on the bench or work table. My only negatives are them being slightly flimsy when the blade is fully extended and the magnet is not that strong.

Item is as described, not hard to install new blades and comes with a few replacements which are well packaged. Plastic is a little light but will work well as a bread lame.

It works but the quality is really low. When button to deploy the razor does not adjust and if it's hanging upside down the blade will deploy. I also want something that sticks to the fridge where I want it. It's a cheap peace of plastic with no thought or quality put into the design.

Addendum -- The company contacted me and although the return window was past they offered a refund. I'm upgrading my rating because the company is so responsive. If I ever find the little button that shot off into the atmosphere I'll give the Lame scoring tool a try. So, in short: Not the best piece of equipment, but impressive customer service. Thanks! The little button you turn to load a blade popped off/broke the very first time I tried to use the stupid thing. Couldn't find the button, even used a flashlight and checked under the fridge/stove. Lovely plastic JUNK!

I wanted a basic lame for scoring sourdough. I did not want to invest in the fancy wood lames that cost 3 or 4 times what this one did. This lame holds the blade securely and retracts the blade easily. It is also easy to change the blade. I recommend this for the novice to experienced bread baker.
