My kids love building forts. It started as draping sheets over furniture (taking every kitchen chair that I had), and progressed into me making them a kit with PVC pipe. This set is the perfect starter kit for young fort builders. The Velcro straps make it easy to secure around furniture legs (though PVC poles are too small of a diameter). The large fabric drape has pockets on the sides to hold the included bean bags which help weigh the edges down and hold it in place. Alternatively, the pockets can be used to store whatever little treasures children want to put inside. The set includes 4 clips to help attach the fabric to the top of whatever it’s draped over. It comes with a nice bag to keep everything stowed away when not in use. It’s an easy way for kids to make their own little sanctuary. One thing I will note is that the plastic clips have smooth inserts on the inside that do come off (see photo). I’m sure it serves to help protect surfaces from damage. My kids have lost at least one, it doesn’t affect the functionality of the clip, but it’s something you should be aware of. The piece that comes off is small enough to be a choking hazard if you’ve got little ones who still put everything in their mouth.

NOTE FOR PHOTOS: The photo of the booth my son made includes our previously owned fort building kit (blue foot long plastic rods and red plastic connectors) as well as the blanket and white clips from this product. Please know that those blue and red rods and connectors do not come with this! Read review below if you want more info about that :) Okay so, my kiddo already has a proper fort building kit that came with maybe 80 foot long rods and around the same number of plastic connectors, and he loves building himself forts with it in our living room. The only things his precious kit didn’t come with were blankets and clips to adhere the blankets onto the top of the fort. So for us this blanket and clips set was a great purchase! And I can see how it of course could be used with the old fashioned items I would use to build forts growing up, aka chairs, tables, the edge of the couch etc. And that is what the seller’s photos do show. However I still take issue with it being sold as a fort building kit because even though I read the description and understood what I was getting, it still feels off because that usually refers to the sets of large plastic rods and connectors that kids can use to build a fort. So I would instead call this a blanket made for a fort — as it is the perfect large blanket for covering a fort! — that includes numerous Velcro straps with which you can secure it onto the fort, and several slots with included bean bags for keeping the blanket properly weighted down, along with 4 perfectly sized clips to add the finishing touches to securing the blanket. But to be clear, this is a blanket for a fort and not really a “fort building kit”. More like a fort covering kit, perhaps. If it weren’t for the confusion over what it’s being called I’d have rated it 5 stars for sure because, as blankets for forts go, this is absolutely the best I’ve ever seen. The blanket is big enough to cover even the largest of forts and those included straps, clips and bean bags make it so this thing will actually fit and stay around virtually any design your kiddo can dream up. My son used his pre-existing fort building rods and made a “booth” (for “selling” his homemade trading cards). The booth was at least 8 feet tall, he had it on the ground first to build it and had us help him put it upright when he was finished building. Then we realized that we’d need to set it back down to add the blanket cover. Having tried to use regular blankets to cover his previous fort-like builds I was skeptical as to whether this would truly be able to correctly cover his gigantic creation, whether it could stay in place properly to look like a booth with it opening at the front and whether we could truly get it to adhere to this huge booth at all. I was amazed when it worked perfectly!!! The design of the blanket is brilliant as it has straps in just the right places. My son had so much fun with his booth once we added this blanket cover on, and then after a couple days when I had to make him take that one down, he later built a proper fort that he was able to cover on his own with the blanket as it wasn’t too tall. He is 11 though so I do think most young kids will need help attaching this onto their forts of any size. In the end I think this is an awesome product that works perfectly for covering a fort. Whether your kiddo will be building forts from a plastic fort building kit or out of chairs and tables, this thing will securely cover the fort. It is finally a blanket for forts that will actually secure onto virtually any fort and has multiple methods to secure it in place. I highly recommend it; it’s a perfect 5 star product for me, I just wish it was being sold as a blanket made for forts as I do think there could be confusion over calling it a fort building kit. 5 star product, 3 star product listing so 4 stars overall.
