    • Magformers are the best! Get several sets
Magformers are a great especially for school-age children. I have several different sets. I work as a counselor in a public school and all the kids love them. This is a very basic set - so I strongly recommend buying this set only to add to an existing collection. I made my original purchases from QVC. The only thing lacking in the QVC sets were the Idea booklet that shows many construction ideas. I wanted to add some more basic pieces to my larger QVC set, so this was perfect for me. The squares and triangles are used the most. It's a fun activity for all ages - even adults. Magformers aren't as widely known about as Legos, and it's a different activity than Legos --but if you are looking for a good gift for a child, I strongly suggest considering Magformers. ***Please note that I do not recommend this small basic set for a gift by itself; buy this set in addition to a bigger set. There are many choices available. It may seem a bit expensive, but it's really a great value when you see how much fun you will have. ... show more

    • amazing toy for babies and older---but might need more pieces
We were recently visiting my best friend when we saw baby had these. They were such a hit with my 4 year old that we bought this 14 piece set. It's very rare for my little ball of energy to sit and do anything for very long but these do keep his attention better than other toys. We also take them to restaurants and in the car to keep him entertained. I gave it 4 starts b/c I feel like we might have to buy more. You can't really build much with just the 14 pieces.... I think it depends on the age of the child. My friend just had the pack of 6 and that was fine for her less than 2 year old. I say if you have a 3 year old or up to go ahead and get the pack with more pieces. ... show more

    • Had it for over a year and they're still sticking!!
My kids loved this set!! It's definitely durable. My kids have had it over a year now and the magnets are still sticking. I got these after seeing how well my son took to them in preschool. And now that my son is in kindergarten and my youngest is in preschool, they both get to use them with no problem. Just wish for the amount of money you spend on it, that more came in the package however, I ordered mine while they were on sale so I got a really great deal for the amount I received. These STEM toys make great birthday gifts! A hit with kids age 3-7 and older. The 14 and 30 piece sets (on sale) are great Magformers starter sets or add-ons. Tens even play with younger siblings. Like Legos, you can't go wrong. If you are deciding between Magna Tiles and Magformers, look into TileBlox made by Magformers, very similar to Magna Tikes. Between Magformers and Magna Tiles, Magfirmers have more shapes and "accessories". Accessories include: wheels, gears, remote comtrolled motors, windows, doors, other housing pieces, and more. Curved pieces, circles, half and quarter circles, various triangles, larger squares and triangles, and other shapes are great for teaching geometry through play. ... show more

Wow. The magnets are quite strong. More than I thought they would be. I bought it for my granddaughter 2nd birthday. I know that it was recommended for a little bit older child, but I figured there weren't small enough pieces for her to swallow. However, after seeing her use them, I realized that she needs to be a bit older. The magnets are so strong that it is hard for her to make a shape.
