Here’s why: Comfort & Fit: The fit is perfect! The pants hug the body in all the right places without being too tight or restricting. They have just the right amount of stretch, so I feel like I can move freely whether I'm hiking, skiing, or just running errands on a cold day. The fleece lining inside is unbelievably soft and cozy, providing a warm, cloud-like feel without being bulky. Waterproof & Windproof: I live in an area that gets a lot of rain and snow, and these pants handle both with ease. The pants themselves were great — the color and size were exactly as expected - 4 stars. They’re also very warm. I stood outside in 35-degree weather and felt completely cozy. If you’re hiking or skiing in sunny conditions, though, you might actually get a little too warm. The only issue I couldn’t overlook was the pocket zipper. It was broken from the moment I tried them on (and no, they weren’t tight), and the pocket kept popping open. Because of that defect, I ended up returning them. I love the fabric. I love the color. I think these pants are well made. The pair I received had a button closure instead of the hook closure but I’m fine with that. They look and feel great. Definitely intended for casual outdoor cool weather use. Not dressy at all but not too casual. You could run errands and not feel self conscious about how you look. I’m sure with a base layer I would be able to go out for my walk even when the temperature drops below zero. AI and the size chart had me believing that I should order a M. I usually wear a M so that seemed correct. In jeans I comfortably wear a size 8. I don’t like my clothes too tight but also don’t like them to look too loose. I like my pants to fit like slacks regardless of the style or fabric. These are the correct length for me. They hit the top of my foot which is the length I prefer. They are quite large on me in the waist, hips and bum. I will probably reorder in a S. Follow up: I don’t think I am a small person but I guess I am. The size S fits perfectly in the waist and the length is perfect too. I’m 5’4” 120 lbs. just shy of 70 years old . I walk every day so I don’t have a smushy body type but due to aging I’m definitely not buff. ... show more

Waist fit perfect and the hips and knees have plenty of room for movement with active hikes/fishing, etc.. The fleece lining appears to be a good warm layer.
