Like the song says…..Things are a few of my favorite things. This book had it all. This had me guessing to the end and it didn’t disappoint. What I wouldn’t give to have all those amazing & strong sisters in one house to share life with.

I battled on the stars for this one and had to think it over, because yes, Val is the youngest and most impetuous of the brothers. You see his and Cat’s affair from the first book, so you know something is coming. I had no idea what, but hot dog! So this story didn’t go the way I had originally hoped. Val and Cat start fooling around as soon as she’s hired by the Rosolini’s, and Cat is truly the OG here, she was around when their father was alive, and it’s grounding to read about her beginnings and where she came from to wind up in their household. She’s a tough chick making her way in the world, and I stan her. IMO, Cat is the best FL of the series, and that’s saying something because these female counterparts to these men are all incredible. But Cat is just…strong. So emotionally strong, and when you want to throw the book because Valentino doesn’t make the right decision in the beginning, even when he’s offered it, Cat is the strong one, because women are just so much more emotionally stable than men, and this hit me to my core. She never falters throughout the book, despite, as the reader, you wanting her to choose herself. And trust me, I did. The arranged marriage was something we know is coming from the previous books. I loooooooove that the brothers have their stories going on simultaneously, so while Val is going through this craziness with his new arrangement, Massimo, Lars, and Roberto have their drama. The whole series is spanning like 6 months total, it’s great. And we get the recaps quickly in each book, so no wasted time. This author does an AH-MAZING job of bringing everything full circle, and Val knows his weaknesses, he KNOWS them. He is not bad, but you just want him to be a little better. At 90% in we get it. One storyline is fairly predictable, but hello Isabella - you are a girl boss in your own right and I hope we get to see you spread your wings, because you are the only Vicari that is worthy in this plot line. Honestly, the action is this series is nonstop. The 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ is here, there, and everywhere. And the brothers…Dario, Adriano, Massimo, Lars, Roberto, and Niccolo…*happy sigh*…it’s always so wonderful to see them together. The ending of the book did not disappoint, and the epilogue I downloaded from Book Funnel was a nice cherry on top. I’m grieving a bit that Niccolo is our last up to bat, because then it’s over. But…it’s time to get to the bottom of this family drama. Best mafia series I’ve ever read, hands down. Let’s go, Ms. Thorn!

I have now read this entire series (so far). The settings are magnificent. The character development is exemplary. The story lines are spot on. The language is redundant. There must be a more succinct way of summarizing.

Swoon! Valentino is a fairy tale with a horror story thrown in. It is also a totally great ugly cry book so have plenty of tissues around. Valentino is the baby of the family and has skated through life going through women like toilet paper and getting by on his good looks and charm. He definitely charms the new kitchen help, Caterina, and begins a torrid affair. Until he’s order to marry a mafia princess in Sicily and move there. Cue the tears and tissues. Both Caterina and Valentino are devastated. I’ve got to say I really do not like Niccolo. He’s been a horse's patootie the last two books. Ms Thorn will have to really redeem him for me in his book. Anyway back to our star crossed lovers. Valentino is miserable. He’s got a psychopath for a future father in law, a wannabe gangster for a brother in law and a shy bookworm for a future wife. He also really misses what he lost…Caterina. Meanwhile Caterina is devastated but bff Alessandra convinces her to go after what she wants. Things get hairy in Sicily and you don’t want to miss out on the action, suspense, drama and steam. Yep this one is super super steamy. I absolutely loved this book and will be rereading it often.

I really like the way these books are written. Miss Thorn really gets into detail without burdening down the plot or characters. I have read all the mafia kings books so far and if I rated them I would say Dario is still my favorite (what an opening!), then Valentino,Lars, Adriano, Massimo and Roberto. The only criticism would be about the Roberto book. I like to see the immediate back and forth of the ML and the FL of their thoughts as to what's going on at the time. In that book you went chapters before she went backward to see what she thought from chapters back. It seemed redundant and was frustrating to read.

Sometimes less is more and as here on multiple levels. Too much violence will create a desire to end the angst created, and in this case close the book. While the storyline was planned and executed almost flawlessly, the story itself became too much.

I can’t even find the exact words for the emotions of what I felt when reading this book, but you get all of em. Outrage, sad, angry, frustrated and tearful.. Niccilo made me sooo mad in this book!!! But I love this series A LOT!! The writer does soo good in telling the stories of each brother and this one I really couldn’t put down because I wanted to see who Valentino ended up with. Off to the next book!
