  • Not bad for the price
Size: 5"
The media could not be loaded. I got mine open box for like $80 so I’m happy with em for sure although I’d recommend you buy better cables. I do like these so far but I’m just using em for my home set up for practicing sets. I don’t actually produce anymore. For producing though I think they’re okay but if you’re paying the full $200 price there are other studio speakers in this range that let you have more control over the sound settings. These only have a volume knob. These get super loud, the bass is super punchy so I love it for mixing hip hop it sounds dope imo. I posted a video of em cranked up a lil over half way. It had the house shaking surprisingly. Just keep in mind I’m only using an rca to aux cable from my rane one which isn’t as great as using an XLR cable. But yeah they’re decent for the price. I am a lil nervous about the other reviews talking about how these failed after a few uses so I will definitely come back for an update if that happens. ... show more

  • REALLY great speakers! Look at options in this price range though!
Size: 5"
These speakers are 100% "HI_FI" compared to anything I've EVER listened to on a PC. While playing FLAC files etc. I get that effect where I literally think someone opened my bedroom door/walked in. This is from the stereo and the AMAZING sound reproduction. BUT these are ALSO LOW END monitors/"Multimedia Speakers" And they don't fall short. The 5" speakers come with a foam baffle to rest the speaker on to absorb sound. This WILL reduce perceivable bass. Be aware of that. IF these (THE FIVE INCH VERSION) are pushed too hard they will shut off. Letting you know you over did it and to NOT do it again. That is a HUGE plus. They look good. Just look around for similar options for the same price. Chances are these are the go to. I couldn't stand to have a 3" or 4" woofer. These are worth the money, but DO NOT overdrive them! You have been warned! Monitor the output to them however you must. If you want to purchase these, take care of them and they WILL serve you well nor will you be disappointed! Know what you are buying when you buy these! ... show more

  • Solid
Size: 5"
Sound great. Very loud and clear. A little bass-y. I'm running these through a Scarlett2i2 and it's annoying not being able to adjust the volume with the Scarlett. These speakers have an auto shut-off if the audio signal is too low. Support's solution to this is to suggest I leave the Scarlett monitor volume all the way up and use the knob on the speakers for adjusting. This is... fine. I guess. Just annoying. ... show more

  • Excellent as long as you use them as they are intended to be used.
Size: 5"
I want to write an honest review on the CRX-5 monitors because I am hopeful to help someone. I am the sound technician at a 500+ member church and we use a nice 32 channel sound board. I wanted a high quality monitor for “soloing” channels and reviewing the mix before it goes to the livestream and remote video feed (nursery etc...) The Mackie CRX-5’s far exceeds my expectations. They are crisp, clear, and have a pure and clean sound reproduction range. To all of the people complaining about the lack of bass response, shhhhh..... That is not what these are designed to do. If its bass you want, buy a pair of Mackie Thump 18S subs and you will be satisfied. They would rock as shelve speakers or computer speakers. I highly recommend them if you use them in their intended environment. If you want loud, buy some Mackie Thump 12s and 18S. If you want control room or mixing console speakers, buy these. ... show more

  • Poorly made product, AVOID
Size: 5"
I purchased these speakers based on other reviews, and an overall reputation Mackie had. Now I wish I hadn't. These were purchased on 11/2020 as desk speakers for my PC at home. I typically use a headset to avoid waking my wife and kids, so these haven't really seen much use. I'd say less than 10 hours a month at most. Well, the powered speaker died around 03/2023, but I thought it may have been the cable that went bad. I ordered a replacement cable and got it replaced, still nothing from the right speaker. I finally had time to try and mess around with settings and trying with other output devices, and still nothing. I reached out to Mackie, and their only solution was to take it to a service center. The local service center wants $185/hr to diagnose a $180 pair of speakers. Mackie wont sell a replacement speaker either, and the best they've been able to do was say sorry. Spend your hard-earned money elsewhere! ... show more

  • Best Bang For Buck BUT Terrible Drivers
Size: 5"
I was found the power to be lacking from just about any speakers I had, and those that had the power didn't have the clarity. The AudioBox USB96 paired with Mackie CR-X monitors ticks both of those boxes, twice for the price of the interface. However, you get what you pay for when it comes to drivers. I am having an EXTREMELY hard time getting the driver to stay stable. It isn't crashing Windows (yet) but getting it going was a challenge. The installer is straight forward enough, but I wasn't getting any audio after restarting the PC. I would get a small pop when the driver initialized, but that was it. Sliding the windows sound slider did not produce any sound, Tidal would show the track playing but no sound from the speakers. I ended up having to disconnect and reconnect the USB cable to get the sound going. I'm having to do that every time the computer doesn't play sound for any extended length of time. I'm working on figuring out the ASIO driver as I hear it works much better. I would recommend this interface as long as you're willing to fight with the driver as it is far superior to anything else I've used in this price point. I had the old Presonus Firebox back when it was new, and I think the firewire connection was the game changer. It looks like the AudioBox uses USB 2.0 which may be a part of the problem. It seems like it isn't keeping up with how fast the signals are being sent (speculation as I have no evidence of this). ... show more
