    • Exceptionally clear, seems to be weak on the low end
I took a chance on these buds after seeing so many mixed reviews of other units in the same price range. My use for these is primarily monitors for audio editing. The bass on these is punchy, but is generally weak and teeters off immediately. The highs are bright and clear, but it's hard to fully enjoy them when the lowest frequencies are so diminished. Turning the volume up to get more power in the lows means the highs get a bit harsh. PROs: - Very clear sound, no muddled mids, bright highs CONs: - Hard to get a good seal with the silicone tips, and they're uncomfortable once I get a decent fit. The tips have a seam around where they seal in the ear, which hurts a bit, as do the sharp edges of the casing - Even with the best seal I can get, the bass is a bit weak - Very rubbery cable means more sound transfer than usual from the cord2 OVERALL: I would NOT buy these again. Unfortunately, Amazon won't let me return these. I'm happy with the clarity, but the lack of lows is disappointing, and they're not great for use while running or in a noisy environment, because those highs will get too harsh to be comfortable if you have to turn up the volume. I am by no means an audiophile, so no snobbery here. I simply cannot pretend that these don't hurt my ears with the piercing highs, lack lows, and fit poorly. I'm going to try some other tips to see if that fixes some of my problems. Will report back if it does. ... show more

    • Cable noise renders them almost unusable
These earbuds sound fantastic, have plenty of fitting options, are comfortable and are priced great. HOWEVER -if you move or touch the cable in any way, that sound is transferred loudly to the earbuds and is very disrupting and distracting to the point that it makes them nearly unusable. To be clear, it is not a static/crackling noise. It is a physical handling noise caused by, I'm guessing the flat designed cable? I've never had earbuds or headphones with this same problem. Very disappointed in the design flaw and very surprised they made it through the testing phase. Ruins what would otherwise be the best value in earbuds out there. A rare fail from Mackie.     • Right earbud dead after three hours of use
For the three hours use I got I found that the seal was relatively good (I opted for the smallest of the three plug sizes) and outside noise cancellation was much better than my iphone earbuds. However, the lows were very weak - I am no audiophile, but I found that the bass in songs was diminished, while the highs became uncomfortably high when I raised the volume to compensate. Ultimately, the right earbud gave out after about three hours of routine use, hence the one star review. Needless to say, I would not recommend these headphone or this seller. ... show more

Anything Mackie sells is high-quality. Love these earbuds. I listen to earbuds daily, 10-12 hours day. These hold up and sound great.

    • Tinny and uncomfortable
As many reviewers have noted, these earphones sound tinny if they're not pushed far into the ear. And it's true that if you push them in far enough, the bass is greatly increased. Barely any bass, weak sound, depressing unit. Expected ALOT more from Mackie. My Apple earbuds blow these out of the water. Stay away.
