  • Excellent small capacity solution that does it all
Color: White Blue
One look at this and I'm immediately struck that somebody's been paying attention. Thos is as perfect a compact incubator as you could make, and it works. The programming is super simple, and the set up is really beyond that, that connect the power cord to the lid and the water bottle to its stand. Then, with the unit in its shipping foam base, insert the water bottle hose into the side of the unit's base. The packing foam is part of the unit, so don't damage it or throw it away in your excitement to get some eggs started. As with other plastic dome type incubators, they don't hold heat very well, but by incorporating the packing foam as a part of the finished unit, they take the thermal efficiency of this thing up several levels. It makes plenty of heat, but with the foam it doesn't have to work as hard, so less energy consumed, which is always a win. The Turner worked flawlessly, and the thermostat was close enough (on par with my other much larger and many more expensive Little Giants). I'm still monitoring its initial ranges, but so far the humidity is proving well served by the remote water bottle and integrated humidistat, but I don't have any fertilized eggs at the moment to give it a real world go. Supposing the humidity remains stable (which it thus far has) my only caution with this is that you cycle for a few days at an elevated temperature after you first receive it and give it all a good soap and water wash. The odor of demanding plastics and foam were apparent, but in this day and age of last mi use inventory management it's nothing new. This likely went right from the assembly line to a shipper to my door within days, so not an unusual occurance. Speaking of the production line, this incubator is 99% plastic (nominally), and the fit and finish throughout is superb. The lid is about as tight fitting as you could reasonably make it and not have it become a problem, and the interior roller plate was all smooth edged and well finished so as to not cause any hang ups in use. The main clear dome is impressively clear and without blemish, making observations without removal incredibly easy. There is more than ample room for the design limit of a dozen eggs, and although I've no eggs to trial at the moment, this appears large enough to accommodate our Pekin or Moscovy duck eggs as well. Beyond that, hatchling should have no issues with head space once they arrive. Overall I have to say that I am pretty mightily impressed, but at the currently offered price I'd call this a veritable steal. The compact design is such that you could easily tuck several of these on a shelf if you're challenged for space, and I can't think of a better device for a classroom experience. This is simply a very well thought out and executed efficient design, and a great value to boot. ... show more

  • So far so good!
Color: White Blue
This is only my second time incubating, so I dont have a whole ton of experience with it. I got this incubator because I wanted something affordable and simple for hatching a small batch of eggs, and so far I’m pretty happy with it. I put 8 eggs in this one and I have 12 going in my other one. This incubator is perfect for folks like me who just want to hatch a few chicks at a time. It also feels like a good value for the price compared to a lot of other incubators out there. One thing I want to mention is temperature accuracy. I personally don’t have a separate calibrated thermometer to verify the exact temp inside, but I did see another review where someone tested it and said it ran 1 degree lower than the display. Based on that review, I bumped my setting up by 1° and I’m trusting that adjustment with my baby chicks. So far the unit has been holding steady. Another thing that kind of surprised me is the egg turner. The manual says the eggs should be turned manually, but it actually rotates the eggs automatically about every 2 hours. That was a nice surprise because it saves a lot of effort and keeps the humidity consistent. The water bottle is nice and stable and neither of my kids have knocked it over yet, so Im thankful for that! The clear dome makes it easy to keep an eye on everything without opening it up, which helps maintain humidity and temperature. I plan to candle the eggs on day 8 to check development (it does not come with a candle) and I’ll come back and update this review on day 21 with our hatch rate. Overall it’s a nice little incubator for the price, works well and is a good option for small scale hatching. Fingers crossed for a successful hatch! ... show more

  • Starter egg incubator
Color: White Blue
The media could not be loaded. This is a cheap starter incubator. For one thing it does not allow precise control of the humidity, it just gives you the temperature. For another the parts are plastic which I suppose is fine however the plate turns to rotate the eggs. There's enough holes in the little plastic piece that your chicks toes can get caught up in the device. I am not sure I would leave live chicks in here for any length of time. Does it work? Yes it works and is easy to use. The size is fine for chicken eggs. Larger eggs will need a bigger device. ... show more

  • Pass on it.
Color: White Blue
Kind of a joke. Not the best choice for serious hatchers.
