I’m always looking for ways to save, I know there’s those who want to spent too money on what they own but for the most part the tool doesn’t make the user that much better (again usually) the user makes the tool more efficient…. I have been having fun with this without breaking the bank, and it’s sensitive enough to feel small sunnies and good at fighting a bigger fish like small mouth and carps, I’m not the average trout guy. I fly fish for anything to up my game and skill set. Not disappointed at all, reel is very smooth as well, just buy better fly boxes and flies according to your trophy fish or whatever your gonna be fishing for ... show more

I bought this strictly as a backup rod for a 5 day trip. I pulled it out one day just to try it out and it casts just great. I’ve been fly fishing for over 40 years and I’m impressed with the fit and finish - hoping the reel seat will hold up. Just retired a 35 year old Powell and needed an extra. I recommend it! I like this rod. I purchased this rod for my grand kids, when they go fishing with me. Fpr the price, its a great starter rod. The one thing I did mot like. The reel came pre-spooled. First time out, I like to let all the fly line out so I can clean and coat it. The fly line was not attached to the backing, and I lost the fly line! ( Hint: So check out before you use! ). But I would purchase this rod again. (I only gave 3-stars, cause I lost my fly line.) ... show more
