  • Everything I wanted
Style: Air 192|14
I used to use an M-Audio Profire 610 from ~2009 and it still works to this day. However, in that time I have transitioned from a mac user to a Windows user, and having only firewire connectivity is limiting for me. Since my Profire has served me so well for so long, I wanted to stick with M-Audio instead of jumping on tp similar Focusrite products. Some of the reviews here were a tad limited or negative from my perspective as a potential customer, but I still thought it was worth a try to see how M-Audio's quality has stood the test of time. So right off the bat, I was all excited to start using it and in a rush I downloaded the 192 | 4 driver instead of the 192 | 14 driver like a dumb muppet, and was wondering why the app said no hardware was connected. After I got that sorted, everything else integrated smoothly. I like how the headphone outputs can drive my 300 ohm Sennheiser HD 800s with ease. If you turn the knob to 3 o'clock, it's loud enough that you'll feel your hair follicles vibrating. The mic quality and latency is sublime with my MXL 990 condenser. While the VU meters do work well indicating the volume levels of my turntable, I found that they are not very helpful when plugging in my mic. It's better to rely on your DAW in this case. I am very happy with the guitar inputs and really enjoyed noodling around with Guitar Rig and experimenting with different audio formats and sample rates. I suppose that thing that stood out to me about this device is how much it can do. I can route my vinyl to it, use a mic, have my monitors bumping, plug in two sets of headphones, jam along with my guitar, poke notes on my midi keyboard with my nose, all while listening for any notifications that may come through on my computer. I like that. One thing I miss that the Profire 610 had was a more robust computer interface. I could name my tracks for inputs and outputs, and I could control it on my computer. However, that device only had two gain knobs, two headphone audio knobs, and a master knob. I suppose it's nice to have a more physical interface and it takes me back to my guitar pedal collector days. As far as build and feel go, I am pretty happy. It looks very appealing and the metal chassis seems indestructible. My two slight complaints would be that I wish the main volume potentiometer had a little more resistance when I am turning it. It is super smooth. Also, the right side where the power goes in can get quite hot. I found that at a 192000 kHz sample rate it was much hotter than at 44.1 kHz and it kinda worried me about the longevity of the device if I were to be always running it that hot. When it comes to using it as a media device, I have been using it in conjunction with Voicemeeter Banana and Light Host. This allows me to have a lot of control over the inputs and outputs and I can also patch in VSTs if desired. All in all, I suppose my needs are a little odd, but this does the job at a reasonable price. Hopefully, this M-Audio interface will last me 11+ years as well. ... show more

  • I love this thing, great little device!
Style: Air 192|14
Great little machine! I love the routing options, and it's easy to use. Integration with my DAW was painless (Reaper). I'm pleasantly surprised at the # of inputs for this price point. I'm really pleased with this

  • Drivers are over 2 years out of date, interface causes problems with every program.
Style: Air 192|14
This had everything I wanted, dual headphone jacks, multiple inputs, USB-C connector, nice desktop hardware with the big knob. However, this thing comes with the worse driver I've ever seen for Windows 10. It's over two years out of date and causes SEVERAL audio glitching with not just audio programs, but also with video games. One game in particular, Rocket League, does not like the 32-bit audio. Which would be fine, because you can force Windows to use 24/16 bit, except for the fact that the device/driver wants to switch it back resulting in this ever constant sample rate/bit rate switching which makes the audio choppy and pegs out the CPU. Their driver must do a lot of non-standard stuff that Windows 10 (up to date, BTW) doesn't like and after a week of troubleshooting sample rates and tech forums, I give up. It's not worth it. Thankfully, I wasn't out of the return period and just sent it back. ... show more

  • Title: Great Interface—Now I Need Better Mics!
Style: Air 192|14
Title: Great Interface—Now I Need Better Mics! The M-Audio AIR 192x14 is a fantastic unit. It’s been rock-solid for me, delivering clean recordings with zero noticeable latency and plenty of input/output options to handle my setup. The build quality is excellent, and the ease of use is perfect for both beginners and those advancing their home studio game. That said, it’s made me realize that my microphones are the limiting factor in my recordings now. The clarity this interface provides really exposes the quality of the input source. It’s a testament to how good the AIR 192x14 is—it’s outperforming my current gear! For anyone on the fence about this interface, I highly recommend it. Just be prepared: it might inspire you to upgrade the rest of your setup too! 🎤🎧🎶 ... show more

  • Real nice actually
Style: Air 192|14
Actually really kinda cool and works really well. Connecting three synths, monitors, computer, all pretty easy. Only drawback is the head phone output is a little low.

  • Blown away at the quality!!
Style: Air 192|14
We were looking for a simple design interface with at least 4 XLR inputs for recording audio for an ongoing podcast. I debated between this interface and the Motu M6 for a couple of months. I went with the M-Audio because it seemed to be set up a little bit more like a sound console and figured it would be a little easier for the average person to understand. I thought maybe someone would be able to figure it out even if I couldn’t be there for a recording. This thing blew my expectations out of the water! First off, it is heavy! Heavy in a good way. It is definitely built solid. The knobs feel great and the switches for monitor selection and phantom power seem to be very well made. I can only speak for Mac with pro tools but it was very easy to get up an running. Everything was recognized right away. It was a nice touch that every cable you need is included. Even some midi cables that I will likely never use but I appreciate that you don’t have to buy a bunch of adapters and cables to make it work. ... show more

  • 8 independent mono channels to your PC.
Style: Air 192|14
Does what it's supposed to. Pretty much impossible to find something with this many outgoing IO connections at this price range. I've been recording at the 96k resolution and at maximum realtime sample block size and it works great still. Sometimes it sort of decides that it's going to revert to 44.1k and it kind of locks up and won't let you change it back but if you just close down your DAW or change the output from Windows to something like the internal speaker and then back again it usually resolves the issue. It doesn't have midi inputs and outputs though, so that's something you might want to consider. ... show more
