  • Review with Helpful Hints for Installing
Size: 69.5"W x 72"L Color: White
Unable to find a local business that could supply me with a vinyl mini blind, I turned to online sources and eventually ended up here in Amazon. Some of the reviews were mixed, which made me apprehensive about ordering this blind but I did anyhow. My review is below but first, tips for those who plan to install this without needing to seeing a psychiatrist. 1. For your own mental health, please take the mounting brackets out of the box and practice learning how it works with the actual blind itself while you're comfortably seated on the ground so you know what you're doing once you get those brackets installed in your window frame. 2. Now that you know that much, if your blind is wide (mine was 69.5" wide and 72" long), you should know you're going to need the middle bracket. Some smaller widths might only require the left and right brackets but given that the top mounting piece is a very flexible vinyl product (no, it's not metal), you're going to have a droop in the middle without the middle mounting bracket. 3. Speaking of that middle bracket, you should know that you cannot mount it in dead middle of your window as I did, which would have been most asthetically appealing. You can't because right in the middle of the top of the blind itself, they've mounted a metal piece, which appears to be part of the mechanism which rolls the blind strings back up inside of it. It's thick enough that it occupies the entire space within the top mounting rail of the blind, meaning you cannot properly seat the lip of the mounting bracket inside of it. You will need to offset that center mounting bracket you're installing in your window frame to work around this design flaw. 4. If it's a wider blind, helps to have a second pair of hands and eyes in seating the blind in the bracket. 5. Be careful pulling this blind up and down. The lower rail is made of metal but is easy to bend out of shape. Take it easy. REVIEW: It's disappointing that this company does not make the top mounting rail out of metal. It would be much more durable and would not droop the way an all-vinyl rail (this is all vinyl) will droop. The decision to put the metal hardware right in the middle in a way that was not modified so you could mount the middle bracket exactly in the middle of your window and snap the middle bracket in place is also unfortunate. I made it work by offsetting but as noted, with an all-vinyl top rail, it requires a center bracket unless you like a droopy blind. This is NOT the "S" shaped blind, which closes virtually all the way; instead, this is what I call a C shape, meaning that the blades of the blind do not collapse all the way on top of the blind below or above for complete privacy closure. If you're seeing total privacy, this isn't that blind. Some kudos: the company was prompt to get this custom cut and shipped. It arrived a full week earlier than promised and I'm glad to have some window dressing up again. The price was competitive and overall, I'm at least satisfied. ... show more

  • Issues
Size: 29.25" W x 36" H Color: White
When I received the blind for installation in our bathroom, I opened it up and discovered I was sent the wrong size. I contacted Lumino and after some back and forth I was sent a replacement blind. The issues I have are that for one, the replacement blind seems to be another customer's return. I say this because the blind arrived with another person's invoice still in the box. Moreover, the blind had their size of window sticker on the inside, meaning it was cut down to meet my requirements. Also, there are small scratches on the top base part, and it appears that someone repainted the blind and missed that part (there is paint dust all along the top portion). Another issue is where to place the blind brackets. The instructions say to place inside of your Do Not Place Here marks (see instructions), and their video states to place outside of those marks (I placed outside and it worked fine). Furthermore, one of the brackets was bent up out of place compared to the other and had to be bent back down, indicating again that this blind was a customer return that was bent when the blind was removed. Also, the instructions don't mention that if you mount the brackets too far back against the window frame (towards the outside of your home), the blind will have a slight curve to it (top portion of blind is father back than middle and bottom portions, creating a slight curve (so don't place brackets all the way back flush against window frame)). Lastly, if I could go back in time, I would have ordered a more expensive blind, as this blind serves its purpose, but is by no means a great looking blind and I'm not sure that it will hold up for very long if you actually used it a lot (we plan to leave it closed, always). I hope this helps in your decision. ... show more

  • Should've been good. Wasn't.
Size: 45" W x 60" H Color: White
Having a size requirement that I couldn't find in-store, I came here. I should've just bought something smaller at Wal-Mart and lived with an inch gap on each side. Make sure you read the instructions three times. Especially since they tell you to mark out where the cord assemblies are on the top of the unit, and they go through great lengths showing you to mark those areas on both the unit and the mounting surface. Unfortunately, if you're using logic in the way the instructions are, it makes you think that's where they want it mounted. There should've been a big red X through it, not making it look like it's where they want you to mark for mounting. And by the way, the "tilt the front, and snap it in" method is a lot more finicky than they make it out to be. You have to have it at almost greater than a 90 degree angle to get over the front lip on the top. This is where I THOUGHT I had messed up - I had mounted the brackets on each end near the cord path, and one in the middle. When I spun the rod, I just get a clicking sound from within, and no shade movement. Great. I re-read the instructions, found the one line that says "brackets must be outside this area". I then removed the unit, re-positioned my brackets. Before mounting, I spin the rod, it LOOKS like it's working, so I re-mount it. Nope. Nothing. Nothing but clicking from within, and zero rotation or movement on any of the cords. The only way my blinds are blinds, are for me to literally fan them down by hand. Well, except for the top which is locked in place by the tabs on the cords. So that's nice. Why not return them? Well, because the top-most ends of the first layer broke off each side, as did some of the end pieces on the bottom. And trying to remove the unit from the bracket broke a chunk out of the plastic railing (that whole more-than-90 degree thing? Yeah, hard to do that when trying to remove it against a window casing). It's sad, the units from Wal-Mart (and others at box stores) are way sturdier, and even as cheap as they are, have never failed to function properly. For the near-$60 price tag just to get one that's 45" wide to eliminate more gap, this is very poorly constructed. Cliff's Notes: Make sure you don't put your brackets where the cords are, make sure you're good the FIRST time it goes up, use a helper and be very gentle around the slats - they are brittle and WILL break with the slightest bend or tweak. And then hope it actually works when you get it up. ... show more
