I don't typically like memory foam. It's hard to move around on and usually leaves me feeling sore. This one is like others and seems to swallow me up and it is definitely hard to move around on but it has helped me sleep better and I don't wake up feeling sore. I do recommend it for that reason. Some say these can have a funny smell to it and I did not experience that. After unpackaging it, it was ready for use by the time I went to bed roughly 3 hours later. The topper looks just like the picture shown. Our bed is years old. The mattress is still in decent condition. It's one the flips over and has a pillow top on both sides. We've always been good about flipping and rotating it. But, time wears on. I have neuropathy and I was noticing that my hands and arms were falling asleep or tingling every morning. I have had to wear braces. Plus my lower back would take a while of creaking to warm up and not be sore. I have one hip that had started to hurt. I'm not getting into the husband's side. We are both healthy and keep in pretty good shape so I just knew some of this was the mattress. Was I ready to spend another $1K or more on a mattress....ummmm....nope! I had slept on a friend's bed who had gotten a memory foam mattress and liked it. Then I started researching the toppers. I have been looking into a topper for months. Figured I would give it a shot. Hopefully sleep better and save a little money. Thank you Prime Day! haha After reading about everything I could and then reading reviews, comparing prices etc, I decided on this. Hallelujah!! I picked this one because it had good reviews on temperature. I run hot so I needed something that wouldn't make me sweat. I liked the bamboo and charcoal features. This came perfectly packaged. Easy to open (provided a razor tool for the plastic) and lay out. There was absolutely NO SMELL. I was worried. I put my face right into it. Nothing. I have a small house so there was no way I was able to stick a king sized topper somewhere for 48 hours, so this only sat for about 14 hours. It did start to expand immediately after being laid out. I already had a pillow mattress cover w/ deep pockets and it fits right over it. I have slept on this for 2 nights so I might be pulling the trigger early on a review, but I will definitely update this if necessary. Night one: I could definitely tell a difference. It was very comfortable. I was worried about too soft or too firm, but like goldilocks, it was just right. It is soft enough that you sink into it, but firm enough that you are not in a hole (if that makes sense). I was not hot at all. Summer is definitely a time to test that out. Night two: I think I liked it even better last night. Just a huge difference. Even lying on it to read. I was comfortable with no aches. Huge difference in the morning. I haven't worn my arm braces and my arms and hands have not had any pins and needles or numbness. My hip has not bothered me and my lower back doesn't feel like I have to oil it up before exercising or just breathing. At this point, I would definitely recommend this topper. I know there are so many out there. My suggestion is don't rush it. Read reviews on and off of Amazon. Going through though, add this one to your list of a possibility. I will add too that I was thinking I would need a 4 inch, but I did read somewhere that someone stated that it feels like you sink further down with a 4inch so I got the 3 and it's perfect for my needs. Absolutely comfortable biggest negative was zero ability to keep cool during sleep. The 4" is definitely soft so if you need a firm mattress/ topper this is not the one for you.

I am not over exaggerating at all in this review. I have bought SO MANY things on Amazon, but I needed to say something about this mattress topper. I go to a CSU and the dorm beds they give you are absolutely atrocious. Unfortunately my back is already messed up because of sports injury, so I found it almost impossible to sleep on those horrible mattresses. Once I bought this… LET ME TELL YOU. This 4 inch topper, with another cooling one to go on top, and a mattress protector (~$250-$300 total) will absolutely change your sleeping experience in college. I used to honestly dread getting and being on my bed because it was so uncomfortable and now I don’t want to leave it. It is well worth the money and will likely last years, I’ve had it for only a few months so I will update it in another few months. Just make sure to let it expand in a room with open windows. Tbh I was so concerned when it came in and I opened it and it looked weird like crushed but it expands in 48 hrs then you can put it on your bed. Again I would definitely recommend purchasing another cooling mattress topper to go on top and a waterproof mattress protector to keep them nice and dust free, also because if you just put it on top of the mattress it might slide around and be super visible and that’s a little weird but if you don’t care and are willing to risk it okay! Pros: - Very little smell. - It expanded well after we opened it. No part of it stayed compressed. We let it rest flat for 48 hours before trying it as advised by the instructions. Cons: - It is SOFT and does not provide any support. As soon as you lie on it, you sink in deeply, then your heavier parts, like hips and shoulders, keep sinking. - It is HOT! It traps body heat, so it feels like lying on a pad that is 98.6 degrees F. We tried it for one night. My husband fell asleep but had a bad backache in the morning. I got up after about an hour because I was too hot and slept on the sofa. Netted out, this is low density memory foam. The cell structure is very open, with large sir pockets. Like other low density foams, I would expect it to break down and compress quickly. I don’t know whether anyone sells high-density memory foam toppers. When memory foam first came out, it was high density: the air pockets looked like pin pricks and it felt almost hard at first, then you slowly sank in and it conformed to your body while still providing support. I was scared because I saw reviews of some people not getting it in perfect shape. When I unraveled from the box I let it sit on our wooden floor to puff up. The directions say to let it sit on a flat surface for an hour (I’m sure the bed is fine) but it only took about twenty minutes for me. We are taking it camping in November so we’ll see how it does in Mother Nature. It does stay cool from the breathable holes, but I like to sleep with a heating pat so it heats the bed up pretty quickly. ... show more
