This worked awesome saved lots of time. I tried the H style that compresses two springs at once and was a pain and didn’t work very well. I even tried the c clamp style and it didn’t work good for putting 660 springs on. This little rocker style tool Was awesome easy off and easy to put new 660 springs on. Recommend using a breaker bar makes it real easy.

The tool, itself, is of so-so quality. Not high quality. Additionally, if you are trying to remove valve springs from a cylinder head that has been removed from the block, you can stand on the head at 130lbs and be lifted by the valves without releasing the keepers. It might be more useful if the head is still attached to the block?

simple, low cost

Anyone building LS heads will appreciate this valve spring compressor tool for it's ease of use and small footprint in the tool box. It works with your own 3/8" ratchet or breaker bar and comes with the cap screws to secure to the head. I like the red because it stands out and easier to find at a glance. Well made and simple tool that will last longer than most of the mechanics using it. I recommend it's purchase.

Broke very quickly
Color: Black
I barely made it through one set of heads. I will admit it’s been a while since I’ve done valve springs. These keepers were very stuck. After ripping through the aluminum on one side of the tool (see pics attached) I realized I should hit the retainer with a small hammer (use a socket to straddle the keeper, and apply the pressure to the retainer, while the valve is stationary. I used a c clamp normally use for wood, to hold the valve in its seat, then did this), which would help to release the keeper tension. Once I did this, it was much easier to get the keeper to release from the retainer, and took less pressure from the tool. Small learning curve, maybe the tool would last longer if I had remembered this sooner.
