It is rare that I rate with 5 stars, but I felt that this ladder was worth it. I'm 86 and a stable ladder is important to me. I had earlier purchased a similar-rated ladder from another well-known supplier but was sceptical of the quality. I weigh 215 lbs, so it was on the margin. The Louisville FS4004 fibreglass 4-foot ladder was clearly, more robustly-made and sturdier. Whilst the sides and rungs were of similar material, the extruded rungs were wider on the front and back The steel spreaders were thicker and wider and secured with a larger rivet. The rung bearings, both front and rear, were plastic, large and wide and contributed to good lateral support, which I could not say for the competitor, which used simple diagonal metal strips. The front and rear feet were large and made for larger footprint which contributed to a steadier stand. I couldn't find any Canadian supplier, so imported it myself. I paid $10 more than the 'other guy' but feel well-justified in doing so. ... show more

Louisville makes quality ladders, and this one is as light as they come in this weight category. The gripper feet are a nice feature along with the work space top. Some complaints about the lack of packaging are valid as mine came wrapped only in plastic, but there were no dents or damage.
