I have been throwing and working on extension ladders as part of my job for over 30 years now and am very comfortable around them. With that said, where has this ladder been all my life? When I saw the work top on this thing my first thought was it was a gimmick that didn't work out simply because I have never seen one like this on a job site. I bought this one for personal use around my house and barn so when I saw the work top, I though why not and gave it a try. Today I used it to clean out the gutters on my 2 story old farmhouse fully extending it to it's 28' max. and was shocked at how much more stable it felt at the top. The wide work top with a rubber surface made it feel like it couldn't slide on my aluminum siding. A regular extension ladder can get a bit slippery at the top when fully extended because of the plastic end caps and small points of contact. I also like the "V" notch in the center that can be used on the corner of a building or on a pole. I have used extension ladders to climb poles to repair lights or install service risers for decades now and the first climb up to tie it off is always a bit of a harrowing experience. You haven't experienced a near heart stopping experience until you have an extension ladder start to roll around a pole! This looks like it will take a lot of the risk out of that job. All in all I am very pleased. It is a great ladder.

*update: product slightly different from pictures but all good. The pro tray came in a bright lime green rather than what’s pictured, but I feel like it helps me see the top and thus place the top where needed, better. I'm going to write my review ahead of receiving the ladder, and will update as necessary. Haven't gotten this ladder yet, but I have an identical one to this that was purchased some years back. That came in the form of a 28' Dewalt extension ladder, with an identical top tray, and same 300 weight rating. That ladder was yellow, with yellow rubber bumpers and a black tray up top. It was a bit heavy, but it was by far one of the best ladders I ever had. Its only difficult, until you understand how to use leverage to your advantage. I find many employees having a difficult time with this kind of ladder. I would've bought the dewalt version, in fact i was searching all over until I finally landed on this guy, with the Pro Top. If I'm correct, Louisville may be the actual manufacturer of the dewalt extension ladders.

Louisville makes great ladders - no surprise there - but the tool platform at the top of this ladder is a brilliant design. It makes the ladder much more stable in many circumstances and having a place to put tools at the top of the ladder is WONDERFUL. I had trouble finding someone who could actually supply the ladder - you might want to contact the vendor first and make sure that the REALLY have them in stock (it turned out that 3 out of the 4 vendors I ordered from did NOT actually have the ladders and ended up canceling the order after 2-3 weeks) - but in the end , it was definitely worth the wait and the hassle!

It's easy to use and very sturdy. I also use a stabilizer but was unable to one one section of the wall due to the corner of the house and a window. It was as sturdy as it was with the stabilizer. I love the notch in the top to lean onto the corner of the house. My only fuss is that it is really heavy and long and that makes it a tad difficult for me to do all alone.

I like the ladder fine. For the size, it's not heavier than you'd expect. It seems sturdy enough. Everything works. The only problem I have is that it was delivered by truck (for free). Part of it was wrapped in plastic. When I removed plastic a couple days later, the rung behind it was bent, badly. It was also missing one of the plastic interlocks on one side. I put in for a replacement, and Amazon shipped another one out at no charge. The second one was fine. Check it over when it's delivered. (Made in Mexico, unfortunately.)

Would like to have left a five star review but I specifically researched for this ladder with metal retainers. It will be subjected to the AZ sun almost continually so the plastic retainers will be sun damaged over time. Other than that issue it arrived with a minor amount of scratches that don’t bother me at all. It works great and appears to good quality.
