At this price point I found the Longer Ray5 machine to be the best value laser out there. It checks all the boxes for what I need: Simple to use and compatible with Lightburn, very solid and well-made, and excellent support / documentations, and very affordable. I've been engraving on a less-powerful portable laser for a couple years, but the Longer 20W machine is my first that is capable of cut-throughs and larger work areas. I've been making inlays and raised 3D types of designs for coasters and wall art. It does everything advertised in my testing, including cutting wood and acrylic and engraving just about anything. I did a lot of looking around before choosing this machine and found that several add-ons are almost mandatory. Those suggested extras follow: Add on suggestion #1: Air assist makes so much of a difference that I would never recommend cutting without it. Whenever I forget to turn on the air compressor the results are charred and uneven. I wish the model I purchased had integrated air assist support like the one in the photos online, but somehow I bought one that is not aware. So instead of lightburn just activating it, it must be turned on manually each time. Longer sells an add on air assist system which is pretty much an aquarium air pump, but it had all the connecting tubing, good vibration dampening and wasn't very expensive so I ordered that one. Add on suggestion #2 is to use a honeycomb bed which will protect your table top surface, help with cut throughs, and reduce charring on the bottom side. Add on suggestion #3 is an enclosure and an exhaust fan. I bought a couple of acrylic safety panels and built a basic enclosure out of those and some plywood. Unless you're set up outside you'll need to move the smoke away somewhere. I bought a 130CFM fan on Amazon for not too much and it worked well. Overall, these add ons cost me about $150. I'm on a budget so I did not purchase those items lightly but they were each well worth the expense. At some point you'll also want to purchase Lightburn, with which the Longer machines are compatible and runs about 100 USD after the free trial expires. I highly recommend this company's products.

Great product but also have nothing to compare to. I’m new to laser engraving but this was fairly easy to set up and start projects right away. A lil on the expensive side but I got the 20w laser engraving and the 10w was cheaper but I wanted something that can cut acrylic and seen the it can also do multi color on steel but haven’t tried that yet only been cutting and engraving wood so far. Takes a lil time to get used to with the settings speed and power but longer has a default list to start with to get u close to perfect just a lil fine tuning if u want. I’ve bought multiple attachment like camera and roller from longer woke good but wanted a rotary roller that can do things with a handle so tried to buy the roller rotary from creality for the quality and functionality seemed better but unfortunately it’s not compatible so in need to buy the longer one I guess. With all being said it’s a learning curve for sure if u never used one or the software u also need to find like light burn is the one I use.

Love this product so far. So versatile and perfect for crafting. I had trouble with the drivers and firmware, because I didn’t know what model I had (since purchasing on Amazon) and Longer’s support team responded to my email almost immediately and got me everything I needed to get me up and running. I purchased this product because I wanted the ability to create things on my own instead of buying them. Initially, I wasn’t sure which one to choose, so I decided to take a chance on this one. I’m glad I did! It was not only easy to assemble but also simple to use. Tip: For your first test, use the included sample images on the SD card. A few unexpected bonuses came from purchasing through Longer/Amazon. I bought this in October but didn’t get around to assembling it until December. Unfortunately, I noticed that the red plastic “shell” was cracked. Since a month had passed, I assumed I’d just have to make do. I taped it together and hoped for the best. Later, I decided to reach out to Longer to inquire about purchasing a replacement part. To my surprise, they offered to send me the replacement piece free of charge! All I had to do was provide proof of purchase and a photo of the damaged part. Their excellent customer service really impressed me. The video showcases the final result of engraving the test compass image, and it turned out fantastic!

This is my first laser engraver. The build quality is very good. They put thought into some small details which i find reassuring in regards to quality of the brand. If they went out of their way to include these small steps in production Im confident in the rest of it. Engraving is very easy with it. Im mostly trying to cut thin plywood and it seems to work well but Im still learning. I like it. I actually like the included gbrl software. It cuts files lightburn doesn’t read. It took a couple hours to set up, a couple hours to hook up to WiFi and software. A couple more hours and I was engraving my own files. No regrets.
